This poem written for Craig Cornish's "Black and White Poetry Contest"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is beauty? Is it hard to find beauty in this black and white world? Where we are blind to the concept of right and wrong; Where we only know what we are taught but never really think for ourselves. How are we sure what's real and what isn't? When we rely so heavily on what we are told instead of what we can piece together; When we could see for ourselves but believe other ways because it is said by the masses. How do we know what is beautiful in itself, if we only know the world's perception of it and never manifested our own? A misconception agreed upon by many. This beautiful fallacy that singles out a few. What is beauty in itself? When people find beauty in places others do not.
The old cliche, Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder. By probing our thoughts, we can look deep beyonf the outer shell.
I was going to quote what Lin Lane said below .but stopped myself in time, a thought provoking stupendous poem - discerning right from wrong, good from bad, beautiful or not is a unique perception as each human is unique on this planet- we should be able to think for ourselves by a certain age and formulate our own opinions. I so enjoyed your poem dear Sara, in fact I always look forward to reading your new posts and awesome creative writes. Thank-you for your support, always much appreciated. Blessings and hugs, JENNIFER.
This begs recalling the cliche'... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I don't think it can be found by those who see only in black and white. What a travesty not to be able to see the beauty of our colorful world. I don't just mean this in the literal sense. You give life to these thoughts.
I feel for people who only see 'black and white.' My older brother is somewhat that way...therefore, he doesn't exactly exude happiness. I understand what you're saying about the colorful world beyond the literal sense...I feel as if that's what's shifted within me...right now I just 'feel' color and a colorful existence that I can't put into words. Hope you understand...appreciate you and your visit, hugs, Sara
this is brilliant dear Sara, beauty is subjective, we don't know about the future, will the beauty will be same for next générations, i doubt, but beauty is eternal, thanks for inspiring me
Brilliant and wise words dear sara, i had a similar poem for this prompt; as like youv said, people are quick to assume and judge thinking that everything is black and white but is not, and we dont know know what is really real. Believing whatever the world feeds us, . “ When we rely so heavily on what we are told instead of what we can piece together” couldnt have said it any better. “ What is beauty in itself? When people find beauty in places others do not.“how powerful! A fave this is!
I really like this Sara, I believe all is beautiful in the heart that is loved from their first day on earth, to know and feel love to be taught gently right from wrong, gives one a feeling that on earth they belong. Have a lovely evening, hugs, Beryl
