Fall Splendour Poetry Contest Sponsored by Tania Kitchin 09/06/23

I wonder if a maple tree grieves, when bidding adieu to falling leaves. I wonder does the tree wear a frown, as it loses its pretty autumnal gown. Once vivid green, now leaves are dead, in shades of gold, umber and vibrant red. A crisp leaf blanket lies on the ground, I hear their crunch as I stroll around. Leaves swirling, twirling to the floor, this gorgeous sight I simply adore. How I love the colors seen in fall, it’s the prettiest season of them all!

Oh, I do just love this one. Your imagery is wonderful. When my husband read it out loud to me, I could smell and feel against my skin:) We used to live in Vermont. It is the favorite season of so many. I consider myself lucky to have found your poem. It is truly lovely.

What a wonderful view of fall's splendor, Jan! Our Liquid Amber trees are really gearing up for autumn and I can't wait to see their leaves and hear the crunch of fallen leaves beneath my feet. Many congratulations for your win! Blessings and hugs!

Absolutely smashing, Jan. I too used to love autumn… until the mice chewed through the catch bag on my leaf sucker. Now it’s a broom and a shovel and, hopefully, a windless day! All the best in Tania’s contest. Terry
