memory flickers
body withers and limbs ache
old age a villain


now that you are rather old and spent
look in the mirror, I recommend
before stepping out
lest somebody may shout
sir, please! Your pant’s buttons, attend!


precaution needed- or else you may become a real laughing stock

I have actually seen this and nudged my husband to go tell the old chappie but I feel so sorry for some old people they have nothing and no one that really cares if they are around or not. Both my mother and my father in law stayed with us until the end. So sad youth they there is wasted on the young and in many cases wealth is wasted on the old . Your poem is excellent. Sad times befall the elderly sometimes. I used to as a younger person watch as some of my acquaintances would start the aging that hits during the late sixties forward. I would really hate to see the aging taking place and their strength and vitality start to go away. Yes, some forget to fasten some things up. Some elderly men will always miss a belt loop in the back (more of a muscle, joint thing I think). Your visit to my page was encouraging. Sara
