The path before me is a silk scarf over rolling hills; it undulates with the earth, leading into the horizon where land meets the sky. It could have been woven for thousands of years, perhaps in a place where time is truly forever, a place of eternal serenity. Each of my footfalls is cushioned from below and the next encouraged, for this is a path given to the walkers, to the ones who love adventure and a chance to follow the rising sun. Trees of sunlit caramel hues, infused with serene and earthy tones, adorn the rising hill spreading their great arms heavenward. A chorus of trees dance in a celebratory wind, each of them ignited by sunlight. A jocund congregation of trees wave in the fragranced breeze while the lyrics of the trees, an ancient-whispered song, sing for each passing soul who ventures here. The trees’ deep roots take in cool water drafts, their strong branches reaching into creation's community. The trees silence my mind and the clocks, for this place of root and branch is the dominion of the eternal soul. They invite my eyes and soul to feel their sense of the expanded moment, to take root and reach as they do. I pause, listening to their earthy advice.
Stand tall and proud. Go out on a limb. Sway in the breeze and be flexible. Remember your roots from whence you came. Drink plenty of water. Seek nourishment from the good things in life. Treasure your beliefs and values. Pursue simple pleasures. Be content with your natural beauty. Embrace the joy of the changing seasons, for each one has its own purpose. Look up at the moon that shines down upon you with a grateful heart. Ponder the mystery of the stars at night. Reflect the Light of a greater source. Enjoy the ever-changing view.

Trees are so important to this miserable earth. What would we do without them> Yet we cut them down or set them on fire. Lovely composition. Blessings.

Skillfully written, Sara. I agree with Jeff about your poem taking the shape of a tree. Shall we call it a pine that’s not yet reached full height? That way we never will grieve over it losing it needles.
