~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The poet’s means is not his pen Nor paper set aside Nor is it rhyme or reason set Nor is it rules to which he must abide~~ Rules that make him want to cast his words aside. What makes a poem isn’t your crazy rules. What makes a poem is poet who possesses this: A musical, lyrical soul The ability to take his fragments of thought And forge them into a solid whole.
Brilliantly said, Sara, and there are so many here. Although some use their pens to poison, you shine as a blessed poetess!
You make some valid points my friend... the thing is, it is a combination of many things.. personally, for me, poetry can be anything expressed different to normal speech... just like how art is expressed differently... It took me years to call myself a poet... I guess its the imposter syndrome... nicely done dear Sara..
you made some good points, Silent One. I agree...poetry, art, music can be about anything...that's the nature of creative expression. Took me years to call myself a writer...I felt uncomfortable even after having written a novel. Like you I didn't want to be perceived as an imposter. Thanks for your visit and complimentary words. Sara
thank you, dear Sotto, for your mindful words and compliments. You, too, have your own unique ability to piece together fragmented thoughts into a cohesive and artistic whole. Your poetry is always soulful and a delight to read, regardless of the subject matter. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend as well, your poetess friend in Texas, Sara
So true Sara, our poetry is from our heart and soul. Pens and keyboards are just tools to put it together. Enjoy your weekend. Tom
