Poem of the Week

The ancient organ groaned ended the passion - bitter vinegar tones pierced the walls Heart had lost its fire The prophets rubbed their heads wisdom at any time and place Overly high hopes Resignation found in a cast iron saucepan The criteria for organ donors are clear ~ Bell tower mourns

Regarding the instrument, I bought an old historic house to renovate and it had not one but two antique pump organs, one beautifully detailed and white. I couldn't sell or give either away for free so I had to have them hauled to the junkyard. Broke my heart. And they both still worked! Nice Potw

Anne-Lise, A layering of musical instrument and biological item. It's very clever. I'm even wondering if the resignation found in the saucepan means that someone is cooking an organ...they are eaten in some places--liver for example. The high hopes one has as a recipient waiting for a life-saving organ creates hope and suspense as you point out, which sometimes ends without a good outcome. Scientists are trying to use pig organs, which could be another saucepan reference. The ethics are not all that clear. You've cooked up a very thought provoking story with this one.
