Contest Description
What to Submit?
1 original poem on any subject.
Poems must be new ones (from 7th April 2017 onwards) please add date of composition at the bottom.
Any form is acceptable.
Check spelling and grammar.
No names.
Number of placements to be decided at time of judging, up to the maximum of ten.
When I judge a contest I try, as far as possible, to emulate the sort of judging one would find in a professionally run competition. The judges in those competitions do not give pointers as to what they are looking for. But archaisms, cliches or bad grammar virtually guarantee that a poem will be rejected.
Preparing Your Entry
Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.
English Language
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
