What to Submit?
1 original, poem on the theme of your choice. 5/3/5 or 5/7/5 syllables
No capitals or punctuation (like haiku)
Magicicada is the genus of the 13-year and the 17-year periodical cicadas of eastern North America. It spends 13, or 17 years underground, before emerging for one short summer. MagiCicada is my own idea for a westernized ku form. I have fun with it, it doesn't need to go anywhere. Magi, Cicada, three wise lines, as loud as you can. No poems on cicadas PLEASE.
Preparing Your Entry
Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.
English Language
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
