Krish Radhakrishna

I am a doctor based in UK and have served the National health service for nearly 30 years. Poetry has been my interest from a very early age and read poetry in Hindi, Tamil and English.
My all time favourite poem is the Elegy in a country churchyard by Thomas Gray, I love Robert Frost, Browning, Wordsworth and Tennyson. I have made a pilgrimage to their birthplace.My favourite writers include Somerset Maugham and Dapne Du Maurier.
I love reading poetry but like great poems that are not lost in extreme verbosity, a tendency for many who employ free verse. Christina Rossetti is a great example of a poet who conveyed beautiful thoughts in simple language.
' Home they brought her Warrior dead' is a good example of a brilliant poem written with the simplest of words.

I look forward to reading the brilliant works of the many poets on Poetry Soup.

I feel Poem of the day should show a little crown next to it to highlight it, just as a top premium poem is marked with a Cup. That would help us visit a poet's page and read their POTD. Do you think It would be a good idea?

Excellent idea Krish! Maybe a heart for poem of the week. Unless a poet keeps a log, one cannot see the history of their work after a span of time. Let's hope soup admin follows through on your suggestion.

A great idea! It might even take the form of one of the existing emojis on the internet (no new design would be required). Therefore, the person who selects the POD, can easily append the emoji ... :)) Sus

That's a wonderful idea, Krish. Incidentally, my poem--"Obama Rhapsody"--has a trophy next to it, so I guess it's from winning 2nd place in a premiere contest, NOT from winning POTD as I originally thought!

Yes, a wonderful poem too. Even the third place should get a cup! yes. I think these small changes would encourage poets.
