Welcome to my bio! I love poetry, of course, and enjoy interacting with other Soupers. I am originally from Upstate New York, travelled with the U.S. Navy and ended up in the Southern United States.

Please edit your poem and clear away dates and any other information below your poem as per Poetry Soup rules. I don't know whether or not these are new rules because other sponsors asked for the same types of things. It has always been a rule that you do NOT include your name on a contest entry. This portion copied from the rules, under contest:

  • You are not allowed to ask poets to put names on contest entries.
  • You are not allowed to ask poets to put the contest information, dates, or any other info on their poems. That may cause their poems to be removed from PoetrySoup.

I can't recall if I removed the date , etc from my poem, but according to the answer Constance got from Soup, the rule is starting from this time forward.

I got a mail back from admin. reading between the lines I suspect it is so they have less work to do editing should a poem be included in the anthology - but i wont be submitting any poems to their book.

Kim, I do not understand this new rule and even understand why it would be an issue. I have removed the date, contest and sponsor requirement in my contest. I will remove the details from my poem in your contest now, though it seems absolutely stupid !

This rule makes no sense, ...I have been holding contests for over ten years, and I have never heard of this rule before now. I asked the admin to clarify; I will let you know what they say.

I got the mail about the rules kim, i can understand no names but the new rule left me puzzled. Im waiting to hear back from admin why this now applies as I've never seen it before Hugs jan
