Kim Merryman

   Hi! My name is Kim Merryman. I was born April 27, 1959 in Louisville, KY but grew up in Rancho Cordova, CA. My husband's name is Rob. We were married on May 30, 1981 and we have two grown sons named Daniel and Matthew, and a black cat named Max.

    I currently live in Niceville, FL located in the Florida Panhandle, near Eglin AFB. With my husband being in the Air Force we have moved around a little. We have lived in California, Florida, Texas, Okinawa and North Carolina.

    I am a Christian and many of my poems reflect that. I've only been writing poetry for 7 years. Most of my inspiration comes while I'm reading my Bible.

     My other interests include reading, crocheting, counted-cross stitch, and playing Scrabble.

     I'm so glad I found Poetry Soup. Since becoming a member I have learned so many new forms. The contests have stretched my creativity and the positive comments are so encouraging. Even though I've never met you, I feel like I know you. Looking forward to a long, happy relationship with all of you.

Dear Soupers,

I just saw a post on facebook stating that Joyce Johnson passed away yesterday, February 26, at the age of 105. I thought you all would want to know. Rest in Peace, sweet lady!

oh my goodness. I was thinking of her just a week ago , wondering how I could ever find out if she were still alive. What a great long life she lived. Her kin are so glad right now to see her in Heaven. She had told me she was the only remaining daughter in her family that had many kids (I think). It's too bad she is gone, but at the same time, it's a joyous time in Heaven. thanks for letting us know

Kim, this is sad news that many of us on PS been sadly waiting for, thank you for letting us know. But wow, what a strong amazing lady to live to 105 years old. aww that is such sad news, Only yesterday I was reading a poem I'd written about her celebrating her 100th birthday and still making fudge for her friends - a remarkable lady she will be sadly missed. my condolences to her family. hugs jan xx

That's really sad news. Thank you for letting us know. I know Joyce last posted a poem about 4 years ago (A tribute to the late PS poet Carolyn Devonshire) and that people had been wondering if she was OK. I'll add that Joyce's biography here at The Soup makes for inspiring reading. Cheers - Gary
