   Hi! My name is Kim Merryman. I was born April 27, 1959 in Louisville, KY but grew up in Rancho Cordova, CA. My husband's name is Rob. We were married on May 30, 1981 and we have two grown sons named Daniel and Matthew, and a black cat named Max.

    I currently live in Niceville, FL located in the Florida Panhandle, near Eglin AFB. With my husband being in the Air Force we have moved around a little. We have lived in California, Florida, Texas, Okinawa and North Carolina.

    I am a Christian and many of my poems reflect that. I've only been writing poetry for 7 years. Most of my inspiration comes while I'm reading my Bible.

     My other interests include reading, crocheting, counted-cross stitch, and playing Scrabble.

     I'm so glad I found Poetry Soup. Since becoming a member I have learned so many new forms. The contests have stretched my creativity and the positive comments are so encouraging. Even though I've never met you, I feel like I know you. Looking forward to a long, happy relationship with all of you.

A Natural Ninette Contest Judged

Hi, Soupers! My ninette contest has been judged. There were so many fantastic entries! I want to explain about the entries that didn't place.

A couple were eliminated because of syllable count issues. A few were eliminated because they weren't centered. (I know it seems trivial, but it was a rule.) Some were eliminated because of the use of Captalization and/or Punctuation. I decided to limit the C and/or P errors to 4 per entry. You will see a few placements with one or two punctuation marks or capital letters, but they placed lower than they would have if they had followed the rules. Those with more than 4 errors of C and/or P were eliminated.

All placements were determined by following the rules, how smoothly the poem read and my personal taste. I am not an expert at judging contests. I do it for the fun and the challenge, and I try to be as fair as possible.
