   Hi! My name is Kim Merryman. I was born April 27, 1959 in Louisville, KY but grew up in Rancho Cordova, CA.  My husband's name is Rob. We were married on May 30, 1981 and we have two grown sons named Daniel and Matthew, and a black cat named Max.

    I currently live in Niceville, FL located in the Florida Panhandle, near Eglin AFB. With my husband being in the Air Force we have moved around a little. We have lived in California, Florida, Texas, Okinawa and North Carolina.

    I am a Christian and many of my poems reflect that.  I've only been writing poetry for 7 years. Most of my inspiration comes while I'm reading my Bible.

     My other interests include reading, crocheting, counted-cross stitch, and playing Scrabble.

     I'm so glad I found Poetry Soup. Since becoming a member I have learned so many new forms. The contests have stretched my creativity and the positive comments are so encouraging.  Even though I've never met you, I feel like I know you. Looking forward to a long, happy relationship with all of you.

Just  a heads up to those participating in this contest. Check and recheck your syllables and make sure you have 19 lines. Also poem must be centered.  I have seen a few with the wrong syllable count and one that isn't centered. I'm seeing some really good ones!  Blessings, Kim M

Great contest Kim, I have checked a few times and it all look the same. I too say, I hope you like it. I am glad you have ask to check because I seem to make a lot of mistakes now a days. I'm with Andrea. Hugs Eve

Hi Kim, I find your requirement that the poem is centered, confusing. After all, the whole idea of the poem is to visually represent a wave on the page - something that is not achieved if it is centered. "The Waltz Wave is an invented form by Margaret Carlisle, and named for Leo Waltz, the Web Manager of Sol Magazine. Words may be split into syllables to fit the pattern. The topics chosen for this form should, with its euphonious phrases, reflect tranquillity. It asks for a one-stanza titled poem, with nineteen lines presented flush left; each line has a set number of syllables, namely: 1-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-3-4-3-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-1". But it is your contest, and as such, you call the shots :))

I have checked twice. But it seems even then I make mistakes. haha. My brain is going dopey on me. Loved this challenge of the waltz form!!
