In Fond Memory of L. Milton Hankins
"Milton was a fine poet and a true gentleman; he held many contests and was very fair in his judging. He also supported many poets both new and old with his uplifting comments.
Rest In Peace Milton." ~Tom Cunningham

“Milton was a wonderful man. He was very kind, gracious and generous. He was a great friend and gave wonderful advice and support. I remember our fun conversation about Birthdays since ours was a few days apart. I didn’t know that would be my last communication with him. I miss him and all that he gave to his friends and to the Poetry soup community.” ~Tania Kitchin

"Milton Hankins's presents were more than words in a poem. See, his real gift is that he made everyone feel at home. He turned on the city lights here at Soup. He was noble. He was a gent. He was a warm blanket to a cold heart. Today, we celebrate his passing, and the sadness still tugs at our hearts as when the city lights dimmed three years ago. May Hankins's continue to rest in prayers, blessings, and peace." ~Connie Pachecho

"Milton was a much loved and popular poet here at Soup. It's so sad that his time here was cut short here. I appreciate the comments he made on my poems and his taking such an active role in participating in our community. He had a big heart." ~Andrea Dietrich

"Someday we will fly free ~~only this physical body prevents us."
~ L Milton Hankins, Flying Free, Monoku
"Milton, you came to soup like a blazing star across the sky,
not that long ago in reality and you blessed us with your light;
you shone like the most dazzling star in the darkness.
Milt, you touched souls with your gentle and kind comments,
with encouragement and became a beloved friend to so many;
you were my poetic friend and you always replied back to me,
your Kentucky friend- in your last poem you wrote Bye-Bye Don't Cry! But, Milt I have been weeping tons since I heard the news of your death! Did you hear God calling your name? Did you take hold of his hand? Then, like a blazing star across the sky you left us forever, I will never forget you, L Milton Hankins. Rest in Peace friend. ~Constance La France

Milt was a man whose friendship was a gift. Kind and giving, he gave the benefit of doubt when he was being taunted until he'd taken enough. He indulged his naysayers by turning his other cheek because Milt was a mild mannered gentleman who preferred being meek. I miss his wonderful comments, but we can read his poetry for it remains on the site as a treasure to those who knew him. With every Milton Creek Saga Mayor Tom Cunningham writes, Milt's personna is with us. ~Lin Lane

"Milton made me think. He taught me to be a better poet.
Top three favorites poems of his, for me: Longing For Vallarta, Desert Devastation, and Yearning for Reunion. Milton would tell you the truth. I was glad to know him. ~Kim Rodriguez

"Milton was an honest man who always told it the way it was. Those who he befriended were his friends for life and it was a sad day when his life ended. He left behind many of his wonderful poems for us to enjoy." ~Mark Koplin

"Milton was such a kind gentleman and a wonderful poet. he encouraged me so much with his uplifting comments and urged me to publish a book of my work as he loved my silly sense of humour. I wish he had been here to see my publication of 2 poetry books.
Tom Cunningham keeps his memory alive with his wonderful Milton creek poems and long may this saga continue.
I'm teary when I have a peek

"I called Milt "Hank" - he said it was his nickname, and I liked it. He asked about my paintings and I sent him one. He told me he was totally delighted with it. Said it was the best thing anyone had done for him in years. I always looked forward to seeing what Hank wrote on my poems, and he commented on every single one of them every day. I miss him terribly but I know he is in heaven dancing with Deb, the love of his life. He really wanted to do that again! Love You Hank, I always well ~Caren Krutsinger
