I think that Admin has settled on 50 new poems and showing only one per poet (as per a previous blog by TPS), and might have reverted to correct reflection of views as it was formerly padded favouring some poets. Maybe the number of visitors have dropped and they don't linger past looking at what had landed them on the site, eg, an example of a poem, blog, etc. Fix: Look at our posting habits and content, eg entering contests lengthens the shelf life of a poem; use key words for our poems (not generic words) - the first 3 words count, etc

Well said, Lin. I posted a poem this evening. Checked it for spelling errors, added an mp3 file, listened to check its clarity. Then checked the new poems tab. No sign of it… fallen off the list within minutes of posting. And we all know where those poems go…. OBLIVION. I ask myself, what purpose does Soup serve in my life… answer.., nowadays… ZERO. Have a productive break, Lin. Hopefully someone at Soup will give the pot a good stir cos it’s currently passed its ‘best before’ date. Terry

Lin, you have created a wonderful blog, voicing concerns that so many of us are feeling. I agree with all of them. I have reported many poems to PS as being 100% AI, checked on several AI detectors, and they have never even acknowledged my concern, so AI created junk that the person/s did not even write are wining top placements in contests. I think more attention should be placed on poets and promoting of our poetry, like allowing more than 50 poems to be listed. Doing the Fun and Games, well I find that is time consuming and really of no value. I tried it but will no longer take part in it. Lin, take a break but please come back 😢

Hey, Lin. I have been so busy this week I failed to even fully read your blog until now. I don't concern myself with pics because so many technological things are over my head, I just post a pic and whatever comes up, I live with it. I have always commented to poets from my inbox where I get poetry comments, so I rarely see new poems list, but some of the lists now are absurd. I do not like a lot of the changes here . But I think most of our complaints are falling on deaf ears. It's sad. AI ruined so much of things in our society and at this site for sure. If it ain't broken , why fix it? Maybe, like Caycay said here, it's about money. Who knows?Thanks for trying to air things out here.

I hear you, Lin. I took a good 6 months from PS last year, and it was for the best! You'll be greatly missed during your hiatus.😢 I'm relieved you're not leaving permanently. I wholeheartedly agree. Some changes on PS are great, but some not so much, especially the first complaint. I'm also annoyed with complaints 4 and 6. I hope TPS are listening and make the necessary adjustments. Excellent blog Lin, I have given up trying to re size pictures they still come out tiny and as for the 50 new poems list it is ridiculous as poems vanish off the page so quickly so why have admin changed it in the first place? . Also I have an ad blocker installed yet every page I go on to i get a message wanting me to remove the ad blocker . . It saddens me to see AI being used in poems and comments and it galls me that plagiarism has not been dealt with as per soup rules . I have lost interest in the site, my muse is on strike.

https://www.poetrysoup.com/poetry/blogs/the_fifty_new_poems_list-45196 Three months ago, I posted a blog entry bemoaning PS downsizing the NEW POEMS LIST from 200 to 50 (why not make the new list 400 and eliminate the multiple poems of 10 at a time), and obviously it fell on deaf ears. I have also been a big advocate of rooting out AI in contests, and obviously it fell on deaf ears. There's not much more I can do in beating a dead horse. I want Strawberry Fields Forever and not Bleeding Hearts--just like everyone else here... but if the horse is standing on three legs, what can you/I do? Hopefully someday there's sunshine and tons of foot traffic here ... and that shelf life means something in my dreams.

In the absence of PS admin action Lin perhaps an interim solution would be for we prolific poem posters PS to 'block her' (which I will do in the unlikely event that she comments on mine) thanks for heads up.Cheers👍

- Hi Lin 😀 - Agreed, new poems disappear quickly from the list .... the constant updating is very annoying ... where do you find the points in the fun and games challenges ? (I've never seen that) - If it can be proven that poems are written with AI, P-Soup should block their account ... - I rarely post more than one poem at a time .... - I'm not taking a break from soup today 😂

Thank you everyone who has commented on these concerns. I am not taking a break because of any of the issues I’ve listed. I have thicker skin than that. I just need personal time away.

Lin, thanks for posting this. There are also issues with the poetry trivia. I will get all 5 questions right and then it shows 4/5, glitchy.

I take a different approach from time to time. I will look at top 100 poets community and start to go down the list so I can see several of their poems and comment. I am not seeing as many comments on mine. I do try to read many of of the poems.

Gremlins in the soup bowl. 50 new poems on the new poems list vanish after a couple of hours and if they dont make it to the best new poems list they're never seen (as voted by ps members ?.) Some have been on there weeks, don't understand that. It looks like some poets aren't posting. Tom🤔

For 5. You can effectively reduce the image size by placing it into a box infilled with color #cccccc. So there will be a margin around the image. The wider the margin the smaller the effective size of the image => say 300 x 300 in a 600 x 600 box. You can vary the placement of the image in the background box. Lin I can vouch that a very convoluted way of making images the size you want is possible and does exist. It took me much hair pulling and a bit of logic to work it out but I got there.
