Concerns and Fixes

Any explanations or fixes for the following observations and concerns?
1. The annoyance of only 50 poems showing at a time, making it very easy to miss poems we might've liked to read and appreciate.
2. Only being able to make 2 responses to comments before having to refresh in order to make more.
3. The explanation as to how a 'poet' who has not posted a single poem has the most points on the fun and games challenges. I don't think that is being a supportive community member. (I no longer take part, but it's still a point I ponder.)
4. Why the AI users continue to comment using AI as well as for their poem analysis in fun and games. It's bad enough they use it to take credit for the poetry they claim as their own.
5. The supersized pictures we post with our poems. (I tried the previous suggestion... to no avail.)
6. Why the change from posting poems every 5 minutes to every hour.
I'm going to leave the blog up in case anyone is interested, but I'm taking a break from PS

I take a different approach from time to time. I will look at top 100 poets community and start to go down the list so I can see several of their poems and comment. I am not seeing as many comments on mine. I do try to read many of of the poems.

Gremlins in the soup bowl. 50 new poems on the new poems list vanish after a couple of hours and if they dont make it to the best new poems list they're never seen (as voted by ps members ?.) Some have been on there weeks, don't understand that. It looks like some poets aren't posting. Tom🤔

For 5. You can effectively reduce the image size by placing it into a box infilled with color #cccccc. So there will be a margin around the image. The wider the margin the smaller the effective size of the image => say 300 x 300 in a 600 x 600 box. You can vary the placement of the image in the background box.

John, this will work for square pictures (the old style AI-generated images). Please see my new blog ...

Normally, after posting a pic, it reads 600 x 400, as you stated. I will decrease each number in increments with no results. Once or twice, I made the 600, 50 and the 400, 30, that's what I meant. Forgive my confusion, this comment is meant for Suzette, it should have landed between her 10:39 and 10:49 comments. I am going to try what you've suggested, John. I thank you very much. I WILL get there. CayCay

Lin I can vouch that a very convoluted way of making images the size you want is possible and does exist. It took me much hair pulling and a bit of logic to work it out but I got there. If you want I can post it here or PM you but it will be next week sometime. Example of resized image: https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/a_land_like_oz_1483132 Cheers - Gary

Hi CayCay The link is only an example of an image shrunk. I will post / PM the method I used in the week. I’m away from home at present. Cheers - Gary

Thank you, Gary! I know you're addressing Lin, but I feel like a lucky girl right now. I've wanted to know 'how' for a long time now. I will proceed with the link but if I fail, may I send you a Soupy? Thank you, again. CayCay

Point 5: Click (holding it down) on the picture when you post or edit your poem. At the bottom of the drop down list is "Image Properties" ... Click on this. On the left hand side of the picture there will be a Sizing option. I find Width 600 best, and hight will default to 400 for Landscape; play around with pics in Portraits (a different orientation of original pic). Click on OK, and Update Poem.

See the footnote at my recent blog. Stick to the sizing as demonstrated and don't touch anything else. Click OK & Update Poem. I also included the original pic for comparison. This is very basic photo editing as used in Photoshop and Adobe. Oh, and if you select 600 for width and height defaults to example 544, leave that figure alone as it is reading the ratio dimensions of the original pic.

I have used this simple method to resize existing pics at my articles and poems and downsized the pic at my current blog. I don't know what you mean by "50/30". Use 600 x 400 as described. Click "OK" bottom right (like you normally do when you post a pic) and Update Poem. It works on all my devices.

#5, FIRST - I've done exactly as you wrote, Suzette, many frustrating times. The pics get smaller on the edit page but continue to be huge on the poem viewing page. Overwhelmingly huge. I've even used 50/30 when it'll take it. Nothing. Have you actually witnessed a decrease in size after posting and then editing to resize? Thank you in advance, Suzette and other peps, for any help with this issue. #1 - I can view approx 90 poem titles on my current page and the same with other's current page for viewing. In addition, I learned today there's a 'next' button up top on everyone's pages. #2 - That hasn't happened to me; maybe it's because my pics are huge. Not being flippant about your blog, I'm trying to cheer myself up about your decision to go away for a bit. A bit, right? #3 - That doesn't sound right at all. I'm glad I've avoided that area. #4 - They know not .... #6 - I regret I do not understand #6. I will miss you. At least I'll see your face here and there.
