A late comer to the world of poetry, he has been writing contemplative and whimsical pieces on family, on redemption, and on faith for the last several years. Fascination and Awe Poetry Finalized

Blog Posted by Jeff Kyser: 6/2/2022 1:49:00 PM

A sincere thanks to all who contributed to the Fascination and Awe Poetry Contest. A wonderful, wide assortment on some very different topics in a variety of styles. Some old poems, some new poems, some revised. I realized I put “New Poems” in the contest instructions and no mention in the Blog, so all were considered.

How to judge? Ultimately, I decided to just read and see which ones drew me in, helped me to make your fascination and awe mine as well. For some topics, that might have been a disadvantage, but I can think of several that were very successful nonetheless.

I hope y’all had fun writing, and I am grateful to get the chance to get a peek into what fascinates you and creates a sense of awe.

Hey Jeff, I knew that my poem wasn't in line with what you had in mind or were looking for, but I did enjoy writing for your contest. Congratulations to all of those folks who earned a placement.

It was fine, Jeff. The interpretation of two words "awe" and "fascination" could go in any direction. I wrote about awe; most, it appears, wrote about fascination. Good job with the contest. I'm looking forward to your next one. You are quite imaginative.

Hey Milt, thanks for the entry. I think my guidelines were overly broad, and produced a very diverse set of entries. This was my third try at a contest, will give more thought to the next one.
