Remember Soupers, we do not allow public spats on PoetrySoup. Please keep any differences you may have with others private. A blog in NOT private. Please behave like an adult (even if you are not).

Violators will have their accounts banned with NO warning.

We work very hard to maintain a certain environment here at PoetrySoup. We work hard to keep PoetrySoup a haven, a refuge from external troubles, and a place of poetic encouragement and growth. As a result, here are some important things for ALL Soupers to keep in mind.

While we respect our Poets' freedom of expression, there are certain subjects and content that will not be allowed on PoetrySoup. Posting poems containing this content will result in deletion of your poetry and possible membership suspension for repeat offenders. Examples of unacceptable content or subjects are:
- Sexually Explicit (X-Rated) Language
- Profanity (Curse Words or Abbreviated Curse Words)
- Nasty Comments (E.g. "This is CRAP!!!")
- Name Calling
- Satanic Occultism
- Vulgarity
- Personal Attacks, Battles, or Slamming Soup Members (Do not use a member's name in poems or comments - unless it is positive!!!)
- Hateful Expressions (E.g. "I should have killed her")
- Racism
Rule violators may NOT receive a warning before accounts are deleted (Offending poems or comments are deleted immediately).

It's very hard to Police a website when one has a life. For this, all is asked by the persons on the said site to relate to what's required. In all honesty, it's not Rocket Science, and if it is, your on the wrong site, simples.....Chowa.

Just to make it clear, Poetry soup admin does not monitor this site. The blog in question and one several months ago, went on and on fueling itself until I wrote them and asked them to check in on the blog. You can not reach admin by blogging "admin". You must go to the extreme bottom of this page and use the "contact us" link and send them a message.

As Mandy has said, Poetry Soup should be a haven, a place to come to share friendship and poetry, and to reach out beyond our differences. Too often it becomes a disappointing arena for spouting differences, hostility, and ill-will. It is disappointing that over and over again, the harmony is compromised. Yes, every one of us has an opinion, we may disagree with one another, but please keep it private. As it was mentioned below, there is enough trouble in the world, without bringing it to our wonderful poetry home. Thanks once again PS Team......for a timely reminder.

Thank you for this. I have one suggestion. Is it possible that you can catch these things before they escalate to the point of becoming all out war? Blogs are not the only places where people choose to attack others. In the past there was a very strong poem that someone posted using very disparaging language about a certain group of people. There should be monitoring of these things before poets' feelings are hurt and some decide to leave this place. I am shocked at the degree of vehemence shown. Live and let live. It is VERY demoralizing. I remember wanting to leave myself a time or two. Please, be more diligent in this. I do believe the offensive poem at the time was removed. Many thanks.

Maybe you need more on the team! There are over 20,000 poets. I do think that needs more people to make sure this is kept as a haven. There are at least two people I know of RIGHT NOW....who are considering leaving. Please....do increase staff and thank you for all you do to make sure this place a place we love to come to.

Sure, we just leave it up to you Soupers to let us know when rules are violated. One PoetrySoup admin cannot read every poem and blog. Just let us know.

Sometimes corrective measures come after the damage and hurt has already been done- hurt which cannot be "deleted" or "removed" from the heart and mind. I still carry the pain...It pops up now and then to hurt me. Please....try to monitor more often....

Thank you for your hard work for building and maintaining this site through which individuals can showcase their work and obtain invaluable feedbacks and most of all post meaningful blogs to generate good discussion that can help others, especially students of literature or those pursuing studies in other fields . I want to thank you all for strongly emphasizing the code of conduct on this site…this is a very useful reminder and should be respected.

I believe that true artist should express in language appropriate for a public forum…bearing in mind that this is not their private face book account. The world is watching and take every word seriously that one exhibits from his or her mouth. I have been taken a back with a current recent trend by those who have expressing themselves in unseemly ways on other people’s blog. Those individuals I believe have a definite objective in mind. It is obvious that their actions have been intentional rather than malicious. True artist should not seek popularity or fame, but create work of art that can deeply impact on others in positive ways.

Finally, I do not get involved in any of the 'spats' on soup it is not my place whether I agree or disagree with them, but I totally disagree with the use of the blogs to 'air ones differences' When I first found soup it was as you suggest a haven from the harsh world of reality unfortunately that world does have a habit of intruding and spoiling it for the majority. Please keep up the removal of public displays of childishness.

Good evening PS, just dropped by to say Merry Christmas to a few old friends. I haven't posted any poems in a while but I am still writing. So sorry to read that this nonsense is still happening. I was hoping things had quieted. Take care and I hope all are blessed with health and happiness.
