Some people have expressed a curiosity about the PoetrySoup “staff”. Well, here's a little bit of info.

PoetrySoup is NOT a big company or corporation – far from it. It is privately owned by two people and is run principally by ONE person. When the owner started PoetrySoup about 8 years ago it was simply because of a love to read poetry (If you know anything about poetry websites, you don’t create one to make money :-) ). Anyway, who knew PoetrySoup would grow to be one of the biggest poetry websites in the world. We still love to read great poetry and it’s so nice to have a community that is stable in spite of many challenges over the years.  So, thank you Soupers and keep up the GREAT work. This is YOUR community.

One thing I can say, is that Poetry Soup is by far the best Poetry site on the Internet. As for the Admin, I think they have battled more wars than all of us poets put together. With diligence, patience and hard graft, and all for us. They rise above their challenges, every single time. It's very hard to please everybody, so it's sheer applause from me, always :)

I've been a member of a couple of sites. This experience has been heads and tails above the others I've seen. Some of the poetry has been phenomenal. Thank you!!

What a huge job for one or two people considering the size of the site, I agree with others one of the best I have found, easy to use, many great things going on, and full of wonderful people, sadly some decide to leave for reasons only they control...

Tps, same.soup mail.. Dejavu ... Life is a challenge... I love the community here. It's like reality..you get the same O' same O' ... No matter what, I'm glad you took this time for others. However im not into mumble jumbo... Maybe we need to express the great job you do for us. I'm gonna go about my business and move on...lol..I hope...and enjoy the soup like before... I will miss Linda, she did a wonderful job addicting many of us... What will we do without one of our drugs..lol... Time to look for a new fix. My withdrawals are almost over. Ditto and kiddos to everyone..how about a hug..tps..one little cyber hug...xoxoxox..pd

Why would you pay someone when you can ask for volunteers, if it helps soup run smoothly im sure you would get a few takers.. Its not hard to teach someone the admin side of a site.. :) x

Dear Poetry Soup Administrators. Thank you for coming forth and quieting things down a bit. What a marvelous site you have provided us. I posted a poem or two here in 2005 and then promptly lost my way back in. I didn't know what had happened to them until I received an email from you in 2008 that you were featuring my poem. I am so happy that you did that because I have thouroughly enjoyed being to able to come here any time day or night to read poetryand to know that my own poerms were actually being read. It is such a great concept. I feel like one of the regulars and I thank you again for your doing your usually thanksless job so well. And for your endless patience. Love, Joyce

I figured there was not many of you, when it was for sale I was approached but leery of spending my wee retirement funds. You were brave. My guess is that you are both women and both christian ;).

You are doing a great job!! Perhaps you can answer a question? I am a premium member and yet when i try to find out about a poem and higlight the about this poem logo, it say only premium members can see this. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help.

It can get a little overwhelming at times, but I LOVE the Soup and Soupers. Since PoetrySoup doesn't make much money beyond it's expenses, we can't hire anyone. We may look into involving moderators. However, that involves more development time and money. Catch 22. :-)

Incredulous to know that this wonderful site is held on the shoulders of one or two amazing people. I am forever grateful that by mere chance, I stumbled into this creation of yours. Someone like me, who had never written before, did so that first time with such trepidation... I've watched people come and go...I've grown and learned not only about poetry, but about human nature...sometimes beautiful things happen...sometimes the ugly head roars up...thank you for not giving up on us, and keeping a level head when the 'classroom' gets out of hand. Thank you...Thank you for making a difference in my life.

Maybe you should consider letting a few regs mod or admin the place with you, seeing as its growing so big...being an ex admin myself I know its not a hard job when the work load is shared....

Hello to the distinguished "OZ," and thank you for your prompt response. You made my heart glad that you came out from behind your almighty powerful curtain to address the masses...as Carol stated on a blog, it does take a lot of resources to create this haven and there have been many upgrades since I began this site 15 months ago. These are all positive changes. The point that has been expressed by others is quite simply this...when allegations are being made by a small group of patrons that could potentially cause damage to the spirit of a community that is so blessed like Poetry Soup's, address it quickly. YOU HAVE DONE THAT... It seems that you have made your case that Linda-Marie didn't even let you know why she left. She didn't even make it clear to her fellow Soupers. We will miss her. This is true. Her contributions to propelling the spirit of poetry along were endless, but many have come and gone and the love of poetry is greater than any one person's happiness. Quite possibly she will return in the future....Thank you for letting us know about Poetry Soup's multimillion dollar operation and its gargantuan-sized staff that are available around the clock to address our needs. :) *Thanks for maintaining this haven so efficiently.
