There Finally Is A Tiger In My Trifle

Blog Posted:7/7/2022 3:59:00 PM

Finally (after fighting with Amazon to actually ship the latest edit) it's out.

There's A Tiger In my Trifle is a book I never thought I would produce seeing as I've always said I couldn't draw and couldn't write for children. Well, I put my mind to it and managed both. Comprising of 76 brand new Nursery rhymes (although a few have appeared in SOUP and/or in Eve's Nursery Rhyme anthology) all accompanied by full page, full colour illustrations.

Should anyone fancy a browse, you can view a few pages using Amazon's 'look inside' feature. I really don't get on with Amazon links so simply search for There's A Tiger In My Trifle and that will produce the goods.

Please note that the apparent blurring in the picture is down to squeezing the image into Soups maximum file size.

Well done Terry I’m delighted you seen this project through to the end, a big achievement in itself, I really hope it turns into a successful schoolchild’s book, you certainly deserve it, cheers David

Thanks, David. If someone from penguin books were to slip a blank cheque in the post, I wouldn’t send it back, but I won’t be sitting by the door waiting for the postman :-) Terry

Terry, congrats on your good news. I do know somebody with a face like a bottom, so on their behalf I have ordered a copy of your book. Cheers ~ John

Oh yes, really loved it. Sorry for the delay in responding, my friend. Just love the general silliness throughout, and the fun pictures, clever rhymes, and made up names. I think the best compliment I can give is that I would have loved this book as a kid, and would have loved reading it to my kids (explaining why the hippo was blowing bubbles in the river!) Now that they're grown I can only cross my fingers and hope for grandchildren. Well done!

I’ve been wondering if you enjoyed the book, John. But didn’t want to put you on the spot by asking… I mean, you might have hated it. So glad you’ve enjoyed. Terry

Terry, got your book and started reading it with many smiles and much glee, until one of the Quippids burped and I had to evacuate. Once the smell dissipates I shall resume. Great stuff... really like the clever imagination and fun illustrations.

It’s a reference to a poem called Quippids… I hope you’ll/they’ll enjoy. Chuffed that you’ve bought a copy, hope it meets expectations. Terry

Thankyou, Tania. It’s a bit of a quirk somewhere in my head that I aim for ‘perfect’, hence four edits/reprints, even though the likelihood of me seeking an agent let alone a traditional publishing house is nigh on zero. My other half keeps nagging me to do so, so maybe I’ll stick half a dozen in envelopes and move on to something new. Terry

Big congratulations Terry, a great achievement, still in Turkey, fly home tonight. Tom

We’ve made a few changes in Britain since you’ve been away… it’s been the month of the long knives. You might be better off in Turkey. Thanks for the congrats. Enjoyed working on this project but I think if you and I entered a ‘best hair’ contest… you’d win… I’ve pulled most of mine out. :-) Hope you’ve had a great time. Terry

Congrats Terry. Your illustrations look brilliant to me - I think you are underselling yourself there. I love the title too. Good luck. Cheers - Gary

Thanks, Gary. It’s the illustrations that even astounded me. I’ve been on planet Earth for twenty one years and some months (about 400 or so) and have always said I can’t draw. Even now, I look at some of those drawings and wonder how I drew them. But I often look back over my poems and wonder where those words came from. Terry

Well done Terry, the illustrations are amazing and the poem we’re able to read is too… Belle

Thanks Belle. I tried for ages to get a sharper image in the blog, but it wasn’t to be. No doubt I’m doing something wrong. Glad you enjoyed the ‘snippet’. Terry

I'm thrilled for you, Terry. There is nothing quite like seeing your work in print or a book with your name on the cover. You are to be congratulated for the tremendous work (and patience) required to see your efforts come to fruition. I'm very, very proud of you. Congratulations!!!

Thanks, Milt. My first novel, ‘Juice’ was slightly quirky, interspersed with a little humour but not a comedy. I think people weren’t sure how to take it. My second ‘Pseudonym’ was a far more serious write but the response to ‘Juice’ was so muted I didn’t even announce it was out. This book is a straightforward illustrated book for kids and I’m well chuffed to have finished it. Terry

Thanks, Mark. Amazon had me pulling my hair out (and I don’t have much). Every time I edited the book, I’d wait for Amazon to tell me it was live and wait a further week to order the revised copy… four times I got the same pre-edit copy. But it’s all sorted now and I’m well chuffed with it. Terry
