<P>Have you ever just stopped for a spell and pondered the significance of beliefs in our lives? How much of it's (our individual lives') subtance is comprised of belief alone? How much of it is contrructed by the environs and that which is outside our mental realm?</P>

How much of it came from our parents and our parents parents ... smile ... and what would those beliefs be if we had been born in Somalia or Yemen or Mars ... LOL ... hopefully they will all stay as rich and varied as the flowers and the birds and not become homogenized in dogma. Thanks for the blog, Jim.

I read a quote that made sense to me from the book The Secret, which is all about believing, "all power is from within and therefore under our control" You are the designer of your destiny, You are the author. You write the story. The pen in your hand and the outcome is whatever, you choose.

a belief system is the foundation of every individual's perspective on his/her environment. Based on a particular belief, one single act can be interpreted a thousand different ways and resulting in a thousand different points of view all based around a single event in history. The world makes no sense without a belief system to guide us in who is right and who is wrong, who is considered a hero and who deserves to be punished. Society can only function when enough people hold the same set of beliefs to enforce them when they are not upheld.
