Lashing Out

<P>When we lash out at the world or something in it, are we actually lashing out at out opininion or interpretation of it? If so, why don't we just change our opinion? It all goes back to the reality that if you want to change the world, you need by change your opinion of it or broaden your horizons? It seems so simple... Dosen't it?</P>

Hello Jim Fish, I'm not one to 'lash out' for the most part. If something has really upset me (and these days that is rare), I tend to 'lash-in' as it were, just getting quiet, finding isolation a comfort and necessity until I get over it. I absolutely agree with you. If the world needs changin' from my point of view, the change has to start with my point of view! Have a lovely evening. Karen

Lashing Out: Lashing out is just one of many ways to communicate ideas. In the process of communicating we can either calm or agitate the person or people with whom we are talking. And, like happiness, it is a skill that, when properly mastered brings happiness along with change in a kinder manner than does lashing out. Well, that's my opinion. And thankfully, in this good ole USA, freedom to lash out verbally or not is one of our Constitution's greatest gifts to its citizens. (Thank You, God.)

I think we all are solely and individually responsible for our own plights and destinies. However, when one believes they are not, in effect, it is so; for them. Likewise, if they believe they are in control - that too is their truth. Once an individual inserts a belief into the psyche as truth, then the mind does all it can to prove it. For these reasons, I'm thinking that we all need to revisit all our beliefs from time to time, both for brevity and for credibility. This, coupled with an exploratory or curious nature, helps to prevent the narrowing of our horizons. At least it makes sense right now. Can anyone find the hole(s) in this conclusion? Thanks for participating - I just can't get this sort of exchange here in my circles. <><

Hi Jim, if I have an opinion, someone has to change it for me. I'm supposedly anti-liberal but my last two presidential votes went that way when the candidates platforms helped sway my opinion. Lashing out sometimes helps get others involved, a necessary evil I suppose. I find as I get older my broad mind narrows and my narrow waist broadens. Have a great one. Vince
