Dripping Raindrops

Dripping Raindrops The rain began quite lazily tap tap tapping on the canopy Drop drop dropping on the jade green grass under subdued light drops shine like glass The wind kick ups a ruffled breeze soon the rain is drip drip dripping from the trees Loud thunder strikes and with it brings rain pouring down in liquid strings I hoped this storm would quickly pass and before too long it had cried it's last Again I hear- drip drip dripping from the trees as the raindrops drip off the fresh spring leaves.

Let Go

LET GO
You spend your time worrying about so many things You take a little problem and give it giant wings You let it cloud your senses leading happiness astray You fret and whine relentlessly another ruined day Choose your battles carefully all is not as it seems Let go of the small things don't let them ruin your dreams The little things have a way of working themselves out It really isn't worth your while to cry and scream and shout Sort out all your problems push the tiny ones aside You will feel more joy each day less tears you will have cried Focus on your blessings they will never make you blue Choose a fresh prospective each day, a new view This life is full of mountains but when you reach the top You feel it was worth the struggle you're glad you didn't stop Brush off the petty problems don't let them dig at you Let go and enjoy happiness let each day be new. 4-22-2017 (2nd place - "Be Didactic" contest - 4-24-17)

Soul Mates

Soul Mates I remember the day the world fell away as you walked into this place Our eyes locked from across the room and our souls felt the embrace. It could almost seem like love at first sight Our connection was deep from the start I thought it was wrong this feeling so strong but if felt so right to my heart. Both of us were tied to another our union could never be right Each day you stopped in just to say hi but soon you started calling at night. You said our feelings must be addressed as they certainly could not be denied But I told you they must be suppressed to our spouses, we don't want to lie. Time moved on as it always does you still came in every day We remained friends just because for now, there was no other way. After a couple of years, I was promoted my work was at a new place But it never changed those feelings I felt when again, I looked in your face. You walked in with that smile so bright I couldn't believe that after so long all of those feelings still felt so right that my heart sang a happy song. My marriage was over, I had to move on when I told you, you started to smile I wondered where your mind had gone then you confessed, yours had been done for awhile. After all this time, we made some plans to have our first date that night When you placed a kiss on my waiting lips We both knew ~ our souls fell in love at first sight.

Magic Moonlight

MAGIC MOONLIGHT Full moon enchanting summer night Fireflies dancing soft misty light Shadows playing across the land Lovers walking hand in hand Balmy breezes in the tree Night seems full of mystery Enchantment spills from twinkling stars Silence whispers the night is ours (p.o.t.d. 4-16-2017)

The Last Thing I Need

The Last Thing I Need They all promised plenty none ever came through I was forced to move on from the lies and abuse I can't sit and long for what I don't have Those feelings of want could drive me quite mad So deep and unsettling to wallow in sorrow It strips away hope for today and tomorrow They say loneliness kills and this may be true But living without hope Can do the same thing too Dark negative thoughts can ruin your dreams Deep in your heart you feel the screams All bloody and ragged they tear at your soul It can make you believe you will never feel whole When deep loneliness starts gripping at me I cut myself off from society Though it may seem the wrong thing I know You can't see me like this my pain, it will show It's only people, you see that created the pain and brought to my life the wrong kind of rain I don't have it in me to tear downs these walls I carefully keep built to block out the falls If I don't let you in my heart you can't break the LAST thing I need is another heart ache. (NO, not crying in my beer, lol - just letting the words flow)

Pearlescent Moon

Pearlescent moonbeams glowing
through the gathering mist
lights my way down a path of
emerald grass the dew has kissed

Ahead the lake just sparkles
aglow in that pearly light
An owl hoots from the old oak tree
his voice echoing into the night

This night now draped in shadows
as I stroll this path alone
a peaceful calm serenity
stays with me as I walk home.

Butterfly

Noiselessly floating-
on those silky windless wings
in life's brief moment.

Better Than a Million

Better Than A Million There is that nagging restless feel deep within the soul You'd be quite content to ignore it all but you feel less than whole It's hard to live your life alone as your days unfold No heart to love or hand to hold while we are growing old Someone who shares your adventures when you're feeling bold Or snuggles you safe in their arms when you're feeling cold Someone to share your feelings with when they must be told Who lets you be just who you are without needing control A true and loving companion is worth more than a million in gold.

The Death of Trust and Love

They said you would deceive
     I didn't want to believe

I loved with all my heart
     thinking we would never part

I stood loyal and true
     Always believing in you

For years I was played
     and ultimately betrayed

Too many times it seems
     too many broken dreams

I don't think I can heal
     when I can't trust how I feel

When you said you lied
     all trust inside me died

I fear I'll never recover
from the lies of my "friend and lover".

Tree Hugging

Trees stand proud as they reach and sway
Somehow they tether me to ground
Without them I might float away
Never wanting to be found

Standing peaceful and serene
They have seen all in this land
Ground and sky and in between
True grace from nature's own hand

Tied to this Earth on which they stand
Yet gracefully they dance free
Thriving so patiently and grand
Without them we would not be

With nature I have formed a bond
That calms my very soul
Her gift of those trees I am fond
When Nature's hand I hold.
