Tree Hugging

Trees stand proud as they reach and sway
Somehow they tether me to ground
Without them I might float away
Never wanting to be found

Standing peaceful and serene
They have seen all in this land
Ground and sky and in between
True grace from nature's own hand

Tied to this Earth on which they stand
Yet gracefully they dance free
Thriving so patiently and grand
Without them we would not be

With nature I have formed a bond
That calms my very soul
Her gift of those trees I am fond
When Nature's hand I hold.

Great poem! I understand what you mean. I often tell people I am "one with nature" and I can feel the energies from the trees. It is so refreshing to go on nice nature hikes and do nothing but feel and be. Blessed be to you.

ahhh, you get it completely Laken :) Thank You so much. I feel that those who do not know this feeling are missing out on an amazing piece of this life here on Earth. Hugs fellow tree hugger :)

So true! Without them, we would not be! Have you ever heard of the Ogham? It is the tree alphabet in Druidry! The trees are very sacred to the Druids! In some cases in ancient times, if you fell a tree the punishment was death! I adore this entree, Lenna!

Thank You !! I don't know of that alphabet, but I do know there are legends based on trees being sacred. So glad you like this:)

This is lovely Lenna. Well done. 7 Surveyors used to designate some trees as "witnesses" of a corner post. The see it all!

Thank you so much Dean :) I do believe they are, as many can live 100's of years. Remarkable !

For a reason I cannot explain here, me, forests and trees aren't good friends, me sea, beach and sand are though. But that has nothing to do with your wonderful poem! The way you use imagery and nature in your poems is absolutely fantastic, and this poem gives peace and calm.

Hi Darren, I am happy you liked the poem even if you are not fond of trees/woods. We don't all like the same things. Like me, I love nature, but she can keep the cold .... I don't enjoy that :) Thank You Darren, for your kind words. Have a Great day !

You, my friend, see nature and everything that is beautiful around you. Trees, such a majestic theme that always makes me wonder, what have they seen throughout their lives, if only they could tell us. This was beautiful Lenna. I always look forward to something new from you

Thank You so much Chris. I have to admit, I did go back and do a tiny bit of editing you may have missed, but all in all its much the same. I love most aspects of nature and if I were ever away too long, I couldn't bear it ... TRULY. It pleases me so when you enjoy my work :) :)
