Wounded

The lines in between fade away
And I’m left standing in gray.
I cannot, dare not, go back;
Yet, I cannot find my way forward.
If I give up this fight
I will surely lose you from sight.
I cannot, dare not, say good bye;
You are the one I live for.

But my blood continues to drain
Leaving my fingers red-stained.
I cannot, dare not, let go;
But my fingers are cold, numb.

Your face is what I long to see,
What I want my last memory to be.
I cannot, dare not, look away;
Even as a siren splits the night.

I see the hope in your eyes
As my heart slowly dies.
I cannot, dare not…

Fool's Gold

Fool's Gold - 15 November 2016

Fool’s gold is all glitter and shiny,
But leaves your hands empty and slimy.
The best way to describe you
And your character so untrue.

I had you in my arms;
So sure you’d keep me from harm.
But instead you brought it to my door,
Leaving my heart broken on the floor.

You seemed so wise and kind;
Turns out I had been blind.
The flatter and flirting was never for me,
But I was too love-starved to see.

I thought you were my prince Charming,
And fell for you without warning.
There are no more tears on my face;
I am now merely an empty space.

Words Unsaid

Why couldn’t I say sorry
For all the times I let you worry?
Do you know my heart felt bad
Every time I made you cry or sad?

But as the clock ticks away,
I know my mistakes are here to stay.
Did I do and say enough;
Did you even know you were loved?

But the words still remain unsaid,
As I stare at your empty bed.
If only I could tell you how I feel,
Maybe in time my heart would heal.

What's In a Name

That just sounds like another Que,
But I guess it will have to Dew.
Standing on the stage with Mi throat too Di,
I could almost start to cry.

But then I saw Hugh in the crowd
And almost laughed out loud.
Your nerves were Wilder than mine
Which reminded me of my punch line.

After Al was said and done,
I did have a Lot of fun.
I couldn’t Wade for my next Turner,
If Edwin, I’d take my career further.

After the Elections

After the Election:

The bustling-frenzy has died
Leaving us all wide-eyed.
Just when you think you know the end,
You are startled by the result.

Did you stand in the cue
To vote for the red and blue,
Or did you look down your nose
At all others who took a vote?

But now it is all dusted and gone,
We’ve sang our patriotic song.
It seems a little stale now,
As if the world has come to an end.

There is no politics to debate,
We have after all sealed our fate.
What should we discuss now?
No topic seems worthwhile.

But still life does abound,
If you’d only look around.
Take a deep breath,
And go on a new adventure.

The Fault Line

What comes to mind
When you think of the fault line?
Would it be numbers and science,
Or perhaps the heart torn in violence?

Both could be right,
But which would be your first sight?
Is it the mighty platonic plates
Or is it the melody your heart makes?

The earth is a beautiful place
Suspended in endless space.
But pressure cracks have started to show
And yet the earth will continue to grow.

The human heart cannot be mapped
Even though it is in a body trapped.
The crinkles and cracks that begin to appear
Are mostly where hope and joy disappear.

Looking at it from another view
What is the most important to you?
Is it the hard physical facts,
Or the softer emotional acts?

My Wish

You sit staring at the wide open space.
I take your hand and enter your world
Where the sun always shines.
Sometimes, I wish I could see the good like you.

Outwardly, you are small and frail,
But you have a heart of gold.
You always want to please,
And you dearly love to laugh.

The innocence that is you,
Makes me want to be better;
Better at loving, forgiving and believing.
Oh, that I could be more like you.

9 Years

I still remember the night
You first landed in my sight.
The bar was busy and loud,
But I saw you through the crowd.

You were more man than boy
And you left me feeling shy and coy.
I remember the smile on your face;
The way it made my heart flutter and race.

We talked the night away,
Until the barman said we couldn’t stay.
You took things slowly,
Because you were older than me.

From text, movies to dance,
We both took a chance
To find a love that could be true;
And it brought me you!

So even though we’re years apart,
You will always have my heart.
Even when we’re both old and grey,
I’ll never go away.

The Mirror

Will you still love me
When I’m old and grey?
Or will you let me be
When my youth fades away?

Will you see past the wrinkled eyes
And the unwanted flab and fat?
In a blink time flies;
Will you forget me like that?

The lustre in my hair has gone,
My hands are steady no more.
Will you look past the wrong
And stay forevermore?

The Legend

What is this that lurks in the dark?
It creeps and crawls through your wall
And slithers silently down the hall.

What is this that avoids the light?
The deep dark fear sets in
As silent fingers trace your skin.

What is this that has no form?
You wake up with a frozen scream,
And hope it was merely a dream.

What is this that stalks at night?
But the feeling of being watched stays,
Even as you see the sun’s first rays.
