Mournful Harp

As I lie amongst wildflowers
beneath the butterfly weeds,
you pondered, through my mind
as you often do,

delicately fragile
essence bursting free
eccentric, dazzling colours
deteriorating, slight physique ~

weakening petals withered
mournful harps serenade,
sensing your soul has departed
in sorrow, I feel your peace

as I lie amongst wildflowers,
beneath the butterfly weeds
you pondered through my heart
as you often do.

A tribute to Emmalene Benson forever beautiful.

Ellie's Freckles

Nursery Rhyme
Children's Short story (Rhyme)
Little Ellie, loves her freckles she counts them every night, her friends call her 'Ellie speckles' which fills her with delight! she traces them with her finger before she rests her head in the mirror, she lingers dallying if the truth be said, little Ellie, loves her freckles she bathes them every night, her friends call her 'Ellie speckles' which fills her with delight! this night was like no other, she froze in utter despair screaming down to her mother who came running up the stairs, little Ellie, loves her freckles she reads to them, every night her friends call her 'Ellie speckles' which fills her with delight! vanished had Ellie's freckles She had washed them off again ~ still wanting to be 'Ellie Speckles' she drew them back with a pen.

Blue

Raspberry bonbon confectionery,
Lavender fields, spicy infusions
Neon lights, trailing ivy shimmer,
Eerie azure moon, stately silhouettes

Katoomba's eucalyptus gardens
Aqua paint swirls, funky abstract art
Freshly cut roses, Prussian royal
Spider veins, mimic skeleton leaves

Maldives sandstorm, sapphire jewels
Inherited, European eyes
Topaz rich, diamante gem skies
Working man's blues, American roots

Cerulean butterfly, flutters
Reticent, admirably, beneath
The ozone layers,
Vast deep blue hole .

Covid Claus

Santa showed signs of the virus
a test was less than desirous
swabs rammed up his nose!
he kept his eyes closed
daydreaming of Milee Cyrus

Bluebell River

Bluebells curtsy mildew pasture Vibrant, submissive, indigo chimes Blooms convene, witnessing daybreak Vain, boastful, early spring unveils, English bulbs amidst sweet woodland scent. Floral rivers flourishing below The matured red stags weary hooves, Strength, stamina, amongst delicate, petite Burnt auburn fur, greets azure petal streams - Beneath April's succulent trees.

Moment In Time

For a brief moment, she waits Patiently. Laughter stagnant ~ Paused in crippling depression, Crouching in sunken despair, Imprisoned to this moment Melancholy deeply impaled Withdrawing from isolation Contentment blooms, sorrow lifts In clusters of mere moments.

Ticket To Heaven

Ticket booth requests destination manually I type your name, a mathematical equation couldn't convince me to abstain, Catching despair in my reflection streetlights flounce, dreary windowpanes tracking raindrops with affection, pining for your embrace, once again Traveling express train to heaven station platforms, fleeting by mimicking photographs in my mind, camera rolls, flicker the sky.

Murder In the Tunnel

Baneful, manufactured decay
eerie, drab, atmosphere swaddles
stone walls wail, briny dismal tears
stagnant puddles, linger upon
ruinous, dreary, derelict paths

rancid foul stench, squalid minds
unlit musk, dank, tunnel conceals
societies obsolete, unruly
observing eyes, close in secret
quivering hands, steady weary stance,

shrieks echo through, high pitched whistles
malicious pit whines, engulfed in greed
screams absorbed, through murderous throat
stealing adrift shadows, to feast

fleeing terror, quavering legs sprint
stumbling towards, sunlight caress
as church bells chime, Sunday's hymns.

Little White Feather

Nursery Rhyme
Children's Short story (Rhyme)
Delicate white feather Blowing through the breeze, Lands with a fragile bump Amongst the Chestnut trees, Nestling in the foliage Reflecting autumn's sun, Beaming in the glory! Now the only one Along came little hands Picked you up carefully, Tickled her chubby chin So innocent, care free With delicate fingers You were weaved into her hat, A young voice heard saying "Feathers are signs of angels That is a given fact" Then a sudden gust of wind Blew the hat up in the air Excited childlike giggles, A girl with ruffled hair Swirling, turning, twirling Up, Up, Up and away Delivering signs of hope To brighten another day.
