Tania Kitchin Poem
We ventured out into the woods one day
Trying to find the perfect Christmas tree
A beautiful fir all will want to come and see
Planning to cut it and carry it on an old sleigh
We walked for miles, until we were ready to quit
We finally found the most magnificent green fir
It was so perfect, full and tall, the top was a blur
We were so excited and couldn’t wait to cut it
We then saw a beautiful red cardinal in his nest
The nest was hidden in the branches of this tree
We couldn’t do it, disturb the nest and make him flee
We decided to leave this perfect tree and let him rest
We turned around and couldn’t believe our eyes
There it was, a smaller version of the perfect tree
We picked this one instead and felt happy as could be
We loved the smaller tree much more to our surprise
Feeling more in the Christmas spirit that we saved a life
We then cut and carried our small tree home that day
We knew it was only right we let that beautiful bird stay
We felt joyous and at peace for not causing him any strife

Tania Kitchin Poem
“Perching on a fencepost, the meadowlark calls in sweet trilling tones like a solo marimba.” L. Milton Hankins
The meadow lark happily sits along the fencepost singing away
and watches as Milton appears all aglow and here to stay
God’s creatures gather around to watch this beautiful scene
In this heavenly place where it’s forever peaceful and serene
He awoke to the faint sounds of meadowlarks singing under the sun
As peaceful feelings envelope, his pain is gone, realizing he has none
The air is warm and fragrant of fresh summer flowers in bloom
As he smells a familiar scent getting closer, his late wife’s perfume
He hears her voice coming closer and she appears at his side
She tells him he has crossed over and reunited with his bride
He feels tears of joy and peace knowing they're now reunited
and realizes he's crossed over to heaven, so happily delighted
The meadowlark joyfully sings on the fencepost singing his tune
As other birds join in a welcoming serenade to Milt as they croon

Tania Kitchin Poem
The river looks calm and inviting,
a natural gift of beauty.
Waterfowl inhabit to feed and nest.
A gateway shared by creatures,
dangers hidden beneath.
The river is beautifully calm and serene,
its powerful dangers are often unseen.
Currents can swirl hidden from shore,
tragically become be a drowning door.
A natural resource to respect and admire,
a gift of nature that will never expire.
Unique with brackish water properties too,
with legends of sea creatures venturing through.

diving into spawning fish ~

There's a shark lurking in the soup they say
With sharp teeth ready to strike any day
Our pens remain our best weapons
No matter what the shark threatens
We will just write more to send him away

Tania Kitchin Poem
For those of us who are married
We know how it often goes
Good days, bad ones and some
Common, annoying marital woes
I left a smidgen of toilet paper
Enough on the roll you can see
But then later when it’s my turn
Again, you left nothing for me
The toothpaste is out and rolled into a ball
I say throw it, it’s not worth squeezing it all
I yell to you but you don’t hear my shout
We sure find petty things to argue about
The dirty laundry is now piled high
You think it’s my job, not sure why?
I do remember when you shrunk my vest
And I told you then to just leave the rest
I tell you the rugs need to be vacuumed soon
You say forget it, it’s lunchtime, almost noon
After lunch, you bring your dirty dishes to the sink
And load them in the dishwasher that’s on the brink
We then sit together as we talk and laugh until we cry
And realize our time together is precious as it flies by
We then agree to disagree, we both can be wrong
Because we would be heartbroken if one of us was gone
