It saddens me to have discovered that we are among some plagiarists in the soup. You know who you are and you have no integrity.

Would you steal an oil painting from someone’s wall? Would you steal cultivated flowers from someone’s garden? Would you steal an author’s great novel? Would you steal quilts made by someone’s grandmother? Would you steal pottery from a gallery? Would you steal artwork displayed by artists? Why would you steal someone else’s creativity to claim as your own? Plagiarism is stealing someone else’s heart felt emotions put into words, someone else’s creativity. Stealing is stealing, it’s not yours and it’s a crime!

For sure. I tried to believe the best, but was proven wrong - there are those who lie about the heart's song, lying and stealing are both wrong. I have my own sins to answer for, but feel sorry for and saddened that some would do something so underhanded and despicable. Praying for them to repent! God bless you always, Love, Gina

This stinks! Not your poem, of course, Tania. It stinks that someone thinks it is alright to steal. And brazen to post as their own!

Jan, thank you, it's a shame that she had to resort to using plagiarism to win contests. -Hugs

Heya Tania, Like so many other poets here I believe Admin is letting down the site, we really shouldn’t have to write these poems but are left with no choice, the person is still openly plagiarising and posting other poets work, despite knowing they are rumbled, I’m convinced now more than ever it’s a mental health issue, and I really hope they get help soon, cheers David

I've found some of my haiku on AP and to be honest they dealt with it far speedier than soup admin do - if you can prove copyright or find a poem on the web which and then find it on soup it is clear something is amiss. there is no excuse for it. i recall a 'husband and wife' greg and jasmine - they posted over 400 plagiarised poems on soup and finally got caught

David, I agree, not sure why the admins are not doing anything as it clearly states in the rules that a member who does this will be removed. Thank you.

You are correct in your diagnosis. But I can't be bothered to check if anyone stole my writings.

Victor, it's another member plagiarizing poems and entering them into contests on PS. Not my poems that I know of.

Heartfelt write on plagiarism, Tania. I'm sorry this has been done to some poets on PS. The poets who do this have issues. Have a good weekend with creativity and inspiration. All the best. :)

Gina, thank you and you're right but that still does not excuse the crime.

Dear tania, disheartened and just very disappointed, i feel cheated too as this plagiarist entered one of the stolen poems to one of my contests. I hope and pray that they get the help they need , as it seems like they are not mentally ok.its like an addiction, stealing, and you are right, when we plagiarize, we arent stealing just words but we are stealing ones heart and soul on paper. And its absolutely not right! I wish them healing, but meantime, im not entertaining plagiarists. Love this!

It's good that we are all on the same page with regard to how we feel about plagiarism. It's true that this has been known about and called out by several people directly and they just get blocked and the activity (which is incredibly easy to prove) continues. PS have so far done nothing despite what I presume dozens of reports. It's really PS that should act (I also wrote a poem about how it made me feel as have several others as it has upset a lot of people).

Andrea, I know, I am in shock as well and they have a lot of proof, it is many poems. Something should be done.

I am in shock that Soup is doing nothing. Not even with proof? They listened to me years ago when I got a plagiarist outed. I sure hope they do their due diligence

Whatever is prompting the behaviour is unlikely to be new, so my wish is that PS deal with it so it doesn't affect this community and hopefully there is help in the background to support the individual with whatever is behind it.

It's sad when people do that Tania, it's theft pure and simple. Tom

Reading beyond the first sentence is also helpful Mark. If there's a wellbeing issue then that's the immediate priority.

Lets be careful not to post a sentence. The crime has been proven beyond doubt, I have known myself for 10 days, and the lady in question knew I knew. She kept getting praise and placements, from some of those who had been alerted. I guess folk just didn't want to believe it. Now its time to all look how to help her. Stop the praise and look to how we can get help to her. I believe she is in trouble. She cant seem to be able to stop.

There’s been a lot of talk about AI being used in PS recently but plagiarism is so much worse. I’ve heard someone has been posting the poetry of others, word for word and although administrators have been told, that person is still posting and commenting. Thanks for posting this, Tania.

I’m proud of you Tania for bringing this to light! It’s just like a baker stealing a recipe from Sarah Lee bread and claiming it’s their own. Well done my friend!!
