Olena Babak's artwork Spring's Easel Explodes Painting Shades

( It is more convenient to read the poem while looking at the artwork.)

                  *******************

the light shines in the eye of the whirlwind
whipping vanilla meringue through the clouds
swinging, the swamp lawn shoots over the shore
casting an apricot glow from the shrouds

butterscotch hues lace the periwinkle sky
peach, tangerine, and lavender stripes, too
caramel waves ripple across the lakebed
illuminating the lemon in the zircon view

In lush glades on a cypress-lined isle
pink flamingos find shelter by the trees
blue herons weave twig nests in the boughs
swaying in the warm, tropical-scented breeze

as dusk draws the brightness down to the horizon
Mother Earth downpours on the cornflowers
nourishing buttercups, milkweed, and daisies
while people describe the sprinklers as April showers

My Creed

 I live - a child -
Wrapped in feast days of divine whimsy
When the world outlines itself
In blue zircon sparkle
A child of the season
When glittering petals of snowflowers
Rest on barren branches
Casting shadows of bursting light
Into tumult
Where defeated darkness whines
In an ebony gloom,
Cowering
In the amber blush of an evergreen dawn.

Taking a holly branch in my hands
I choose to walk through the shortest days,
Into the longest midnights,
Embracing the fire of the Spirit –
Guardian of precious light
From all consuming blackness –
To stand watch at the apex of midnight bells
To celebrate
Heaving darkness back into its sneering leers
To walk in an eternal festival of the celestial.

I choose to embrace jubilee
Source of golden radiance
To make merry in an eternal gala
And join rejoicing joy
Infecting every fleeting crumb of time
Dancing with triumphant jubilation,
Ambassador to consecrated oblation,
Reaching
Always reaching to receive celebration
From eternity.

Premium MemberYellow

Marigolds, pansies, sunflowers, tulips, and carnations
Bird or beast, fish, or all mountainous valley temptations
Zircon, sapphire, topaz, citrine, jade, garnet, and beryl
Gold, brass, copper, or any yellow-coloured metal
In my Indian culture, I know, yellow brings gladness.
Its little glimpse brings, they say, zeal and zest to its fullness

Yellow-wrapped invitation cards; yellowish gold culled words
Do you know that in India, we had gold-gilded swords?
Whether you win or lose, auspiciousness is what matters.
Yellow is the witch, we know, by whom each evil shatters.
Has my house painted yellow ever peeled off? I don't know
When it comes to shades, it's with yellow that I seem to flow.

It's a germ killer. It's In turmeric water, we bathe.
With quality and quantity of gold, our brides we swathe
With yellow in rare shades, their villa is decorated
Will they live so long, or will they soon get separated?
This is why they ask me, "Why is yellow the best?" I say:
In my nation, sure, there are 130 shades of yellow. Anyway

Zircon’s Fire

Flames of deep amber glint in zircon fire
          Brilliant crystals smolder
      In conflagration’s desire
                    Sparks flash in gold

Winter’s white fire sparkles in deepest blues
          Frost crystal diadems
      Azure jewel’s celestial hues -
                    December gem

A rainbow ignited, yellow and green,
          Joyful flashes exclaim
      Fiery festival in sparks sheen
                    Gemstone aflame

Hypnotic fires of purest energy
          Zircon’s fire burns breathless
      Impassioned spirit light sets free
                    Whimsy endless

Hidden Hand Inurned

Snake oily palms
got a-plenty
under the table plans

Synthetic sly reptilian smile
bewitching many
Picking pockets with a hidden hand

Real filthy lucre fingernails
have the zircon gluttonous glow
that enticingly Endora sells

Dirty laundered money
boa clutches
that unclean epidermal soul

Those cobra soundbytes ain’t adder funny,
them sticky finger touches
love taking venom spit control

Dealing so anaconda treacherous
from the bottom of the deck
Pale poker face don’t wink reveal the poison ivy tell

Diamondback enamel scales
cover thorny digits —
Five fingers of sleight close the eclipse-colored veil

Oz-vader gator vice grip
unevenly tilt the bottom line balance
Stolen zeroes get a counterfeit eulogy farewell

Sympathetic shakes of hollow sincerity
accompany the revenue loss burial
Tainted double-cross lots of empty purse plots

Fervent loan believers only learn
when they forfeiture fit get iron glove squeezed
By the mint hidden hand inurned

Phantom phalanges scratch pilfering churn ...
fungi finger worms make the dirty green soil toxic turn
Emitting a dollar scent viper vapor burned

Premium MemberDecember Haibun-

O’ ten decem being tenth month of the year, so endearing, Alas. A seasonal transferring removed from Romulus calendar, remembered now as a season of division. Marked by changes in weather, ecology and amount of daylight on earth. My flower December Narcissus encased in a vase slab of Turquoise, Zircon and Tanzanite-what does December symbolize?
final month of Julian and Gregorian Calendars December Is the twelfth and the seventh and last of seven months that has lengths of 31 days in cold praise...

~

O’ ten decem twelve
Solace month of winter’s breath
plants to be dormant

Caught Undertow

While casual, coral reef cruising, marlin flygirl fishing,
my dinghy eyes got capsized
into the shimmy-ing belly of a barracuda
Crustacean curiosity got sent on an abdominal mission

My dinghy eyes got capsized ...
chum dummy fell overboard into the deep end
Lost in an ocean of pulse infatuation,
sponge orbitals didn’t realize

Into the shimmy-ing belly of a barracuda,
blubbering thoughts have taken infirm control of me
Spawn desires swimming upstream,
chasing a she-devil in a triangle Bermuda

Crustacean curiosity got sent on an abdominal mission,
found out the aorta pearl was inside a zircon clam
Mystery lust algae dragged my ego undertow ...
While casual, coral reef cruising, marlin flygirl fishing

MORGANITE

You sprang up like a shoot,
And art translucent to form.
Acrylic with tears the norm,
Brush strokes of life; resolute.

MAW SIT SIT

My memories are dim
Of me and him,
Breaches of birth. Strangers
Now, dear mannequin.

SPHALERITE

Lost in a world of make believe,
Trying to be human of sorts,
Touching life's Eden to perceive,
His favourite tipple! Vintage port.

SUGILITE

Troubled heart, troubled mind,
You fled our shores abroad,
You spoke with an accent kind
Your sorrows of life you stored.

SPHENE

Champagne fizz, popping the cork,
Nightclub Madonna to dance.
Dreaming of high rise New York,
So much better than France!

MOONSTONE

Tot 'n' Ham labours two,
Mothered to your breast,
Redwood trees, how they grew!
A familial love and blessed.

ZIRCON

Travelling through mythical days,
Chains of law untethered,
Stonehenge Rigveda praise,
Countenance aglow; weathered.

This poem is about a particular aspect of my siblings, including myself here and the name of each gemstone is quite rare and unique as we all are as individuals

The Gods Must Be Crazy

Gods must be crazy -
A mixed bag of surprises -
while creating you

They put a heart of Gold and Zircon eyes,
melted love and compassion to mix
the amazing emotions and
sprinkled positivity
all over to make
you so special
"Ma Cherie"-
I Love
You

Valentine Matrix

Lovely symmetry

Delectable eyes

A majestic zircon

Cheeks mirror sapphire skies

Her skin platinum paradise

Idle amour is weaving

Bones tingle with creamy delight

Hearts groove in mellow fashion

A valentine matrix
