To My Justin

To My Justin

In the garden of my heart, I’ve wandered wide,
Through paths of many men, I sought a guide.
With dreams of Mr. Right, I danced in the night,
But each time I was wrong, lost in the light.

Yet here you stand, my prince, my knight,
In your arms, I’ve found my truest delight.
You’re the hero of my story, the calm in my storm,
With you, my love, I’ve finally found my form.

Without you, dear Justin, I’d drift and I’d sway,
You’re the anchor that keeps my fears at bay.
Though you drive me to madness, with quirks that confound,
In the chaos of love, it’s you I have found.

One moment I’m fuming, wanting to choke,
Then laughter erupts, and I’m wrapped in your cloak.
You see through my layers, my heart laid bare,
In a world full of noise, you’re the breath of fresh air.

So here’s to you, my love, on this special day,
With every heartbeat, I cherish you more in every way.
For in this wild journey, you’re my guiding star,
Happy birthday, my darling, my love, my czar.

Forever yours,
Odette aka Laurie

Premium MemberExpectant Waiting

The paraphernalia of our marriage could unite
Our bodies for only a few days, and our minds—never
Beyond the night of our room, your eyes blinked at the moonlight.
Our gorgeous king-queen bed could not keep our hearts together.

Preparing your favourite dishes, I eagerly wait
For my birthday cake, which you'd bring, with a lovely red rose
I stare through the wine cups that seem, like me, to contemplate
On their emptiness, which, lo, never, on their own, they chose

No one has been invited, I know. These decorations
I've done it so that if anyone comes, they shouldn't blame you.
You may be in a bar or at someone's celebrations.
Tales of the Night Ending: I can smell the morning dew.

Come, my love, I dare to bear your infidelity too.
I love you. My love for you is true. It will remain true.

Premium MemberChanged Past I Was a Man Who Found a Good Thing a Wife-

Changed past Lo, twas an low estate
A mark posted on my slate
Ebb of no esteem
Young fascinating dreams

Of being married only a late teen of seventeen
The one and only female teen nine months older than me
I courted three years, then on mine 21 birthday
She became my spousal woman of my dreams yea

Changed past O’ she allowed me to pick and pursue her
True that, through that a blessed memory that changed my life, sure!
She could have said NO?
But she said “Yes” it bless my soul

True that, through that a blessed memory that changed my life
A male, a boy turned man
Via God’s Plan
Misguided self-considered ugly duckling God gave a wife

Changed past A misguided young man for no one (let me tell it love)
A man finds a wife finds a GOOD THING

Far and Wide

From lands a far and wide
where dreams take refuge then hide
in the distant starlight glow and ride
on the beauty of the morning afterglow which slide
into a birthday filled beauty and pride

a moment of celebration far and wide
to the husband; an aide
to the son; pride
to the family; a pillar and guide
through life's turbulence and tide

And so I join in celebrating your day
may joy and happiness come your way
fun-filled celebrations to say
of years well-spent and spark
a future of hope and luck

So blow those candles and make a wish
with happiness that fills every dish
a dose of elation and fun
that will last till the day is done

Premium MemberA Salute To Our Pastor's Wife

God be praised for our Pastor’s wife
Virtuous woman* exuded by her countenance
Paragon of spiritual lady’s blest fullness indeed
Fulfilling roles with feminine elegance
Graciously living according to Bible creed
Meeting her family's maternal need.

The Lord be thanked for our Pastor’s wife
Possessing faith of steward with servant-heart qualities
Steadfast as a loving mentor of godly influence
Caring teacher and discipler marked by truth-verities
Diligent homemaker as well as prudent* spouse in her reigning prevalence
Midst her mother and grandmother's joyously cheering presence.

Dear Ma'am Dhel,
Blessed birthday to you. We thank God for your life. You are a blessing to us.

*Proverbs 12:4 - A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones. Proverbs 19:14 - ... a prudent wife is from the LORD.

A Lost Letter To My Wife

Time has changed me, I now know that you have changed as well.
And I would do what you would now say.

A second chance from you I would ask as things with you have changed as well.

As I once gave them fish so we were blessed to be there for,
my love for you.
Because you are still strong like then your body's smell I long to taste now covered in the scent of time, rosemary yes and thyme.
Time has changed you to.

As for what I want from you,
was love a love as strong as love could be a simple man is what I am, I'm shy yet strong for you please understand.

To you I plead yet promise to, to be the man I'd help you be, the best friend that I once then, her birthday love is coming soon.
And time has changed me to.

Premium MemberTucked Up In Our Little Corner

We’ve always done for each other what we thought was good and right.
Tucked up in our little corner under the rainy mist of our street light.
Tucked up in our little life where we know that we only have each other when the world chooses us with which to fight.

We found love and peace in one another in this beautiful little life.
All the years that we’ve been together through the laughter, fears, tears, felines and cries. Tucked up here together, well that’s alright.

Because, I’ll never regret a moment, not one single moment of our life, when I see you, my you, my love, our little corner tucked up in your loving blue eyes.

Seventy-five

This is your birthday seven five
Three quarters century
Two birthdays since God took you
Now in Heaven without me

You're looking on our savior's face
No pain, no tears, no strife
You believed, so there you are
You now have eternal life

I know you're looking down on me
From your place so high above
Helping me to carry on
Always sending me your love

Happy birthday Barbara
You are still my loving wife
Still have your ring upon my finger
As I carry on in life

I cannot forget your birthday
Or two and fifty years in time
When we meet again in Heaven
Eternal life will be sublime

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday ?? my dear

Who says romance is the fiefdom of only the youth?

Even today, I drink from your eyes,

Your smile causes a ripple in my ?? heart

Your love ?? hides the secrets of my soul.

In every snowy flake of winter,

In the rain ??? drops of Summer

I see your face

In all my sorrows

In all my celebrations

You are my life.

In the tumultuous waves of life

Your the North Star ??, leading me to the shore.

You are the Divine candle ??? lighting up my path.

The beautiful rose ?? whose fragrance envelopes me

I am the drunken dervish whirling around you.

Premium MemberHappy Birthday, Honey

I traversed the tunnel of time,
never looking to find gold or silver.
I sought one alone with whom to celebrate.

I traversed the tunnel of time,
hoping to uncover some treasured past.
Instead, I found lots of familiar numbers.
I saw the numbers 13, 20, 22, and 50.

I traversed the tunnel of time
and also spotted 1949, 1950, 1970, 1972, and 2022.
I said to myself, " What is it about these numbers?"
The time tunnel replied to me, "The numbers are about
love, you and her, a happy birth, and a happy life.

I traversed the tunnel of time
and saw yesterday as well as today. I saw a most
loving face filled with grace. Without hesitation or
reservation, I reached out and embraced one whom I have
called 'Honey' for more than 50 years. She is the love of my
life who in 2023, in the 3rd month, on the 13th day, is turning 73.

Premium MemberA December Memento

It was the seventeenth of December,
at her birthday party I had met her.
That special day I fondly remember,
she became my wife, nothing could deter.
The day I’ll adore till our time turns blur.

Birthday Sabotage

It's the 3rd of the month
An excellently important day
5 decades or so ago,
My parents made a little 'roll in the hay'

Tonight, I'm spoiling myself
Going out for dinner el solo
Down to my favourite local Bistro
For Salmon Wellington, Cab Sav and Gateau

Made sure I phoned ahead,
with 3 weeks to go
Booked a delicious pescatarian meal
And a table outside, on the patio

I arrived with a grin
And was shown to a shabby table inside
Served Beef Wellington, Sav Blanc,
And for dessert, a Mince Pie!

Why? What? How could this be?
I immediately called for the Chef
Oh Lanser, how could you get this so wrong
Have you recently gone stone deaf?

No! He said, in his monotone
And pulled from his pocket an email
You sent us this note just yesterday
Updating your culinary detail

But it wasn't... I didn't.... Who could it have been?
To know that I'd definitely be here
Someone who would sabotage my effulgent glory
And rob me of my cheer?

Then it dawned on me
Who sabotaged my favourite night
It was my horrible ex-wife
She's darn clever, evil and so full of spite
