Quiescence 2-6-24

Quiescent
Snowfall resonates in unison’s octaves,
In low tones of falling flakes’ pink vibrations,
Waterfalls of snowflakes in gentle billows
Pulse in halcyon –
The resting heartbeat of dozing snowflowers.
Feathery gifts from the unselfish heavens,
Unhurried stillness
Hushed drifts,
Suspended between half light and vesper veils
In reposes of resolved hibernation.
Hypnotic hum of drifting hues, soothing bleakness,
Lingers through broadbands of snowy calm,
Like floating tides of resolution,
Lays hands on unsettled winds
And the flushed pulse of whiteouts.
In shades of snowbound solitude,
Drawn into the spellbound cadence
Of snowfall reveries' vital signs,
Breath slows into mesmerizing harmony,
Sinking into the hush to banish blizzards.

Skiing steep sloped slaloms one snowy week,
Knowing my courses from every stark peak.
In whiteouts of bitter blizzards bleak
Which lacked hazards to frighten me to freak.
Nothing was too risky to stop my streak,
Getting ski heroes poled into a creek.

An amateur archer, Antoine,
Bodaciously bragged beastly brawn.
Crushed counterparts,
Dispatched deadly darts,
Electrified everyone!
Fly fisherman Freddy flung far.
Gadzooks! Great gobbling gar!
He hooked half-heartedly,
Inverted inartfully,
Jettisoned jumbled jig jar!
Kenneth keeps kitchen knives keen
Love’s labors leave lanky, lean
Mills metal mightily
Nibbles Nightly
Overweight outcomes: obscene!
Peter’s pickled picked peppers: premiere!
Quoted quantities: questionable, q*eer
Ration’s Redeeming:
Scofield scale screaming,
Terrifies tongues, torrents tears
Ultimatums unduly unclear
Varnished vengeance veneer
Wipeouts, whiteouts
Xeroxing x-outs
Yielding yoked yeoman years
Zanax-zombified zebras zig-zag zanily, zap zooming zeitgeists

Alliterative, Abecedarian Limericks!
Ran out for 'Z', so I made an alliterative monoku there. This was hard! The last stanza stretches the imagination a bit :-)

Geese follow a southern flight path,
fearing Winter's a psychopath;
and honk as they flee Her wrath.
Autumn's buried without a trace,
while Winter whiteouts set the pace;
and icy winds slap my face.
I feel the sting of Winter's bite,
lying low in Her gown of white;
lashing out with all Her might.
A femme fatale, a heart of ice,
Winter is anything but nice;
She always levies a price.

Winter snowfall offers whiteouts against
thinking, against the multiplicities
that grow in our brains to take over life
in a mean way.

Spring dapples the land in all shades of green,
as life germinates in a seed or bean.
And wildflowers add color to the scene;
flaunting exotic pigments, rarely seen.
Summer paints sunsets pink and tangerine,
while mosquitoes swarm a rusty door screen.
And the air smells of ozone, fresh and clean,
after thunderstorms and lightning convene.
Autumn harvest, leaves empty fields to glean,
barren rows scar the land where crops had been.
And like a hallmark card: all looks serene;
colored leaves scattered across the ravine.
Winter winds buff snow to a polished sheen;
while whiteouts and blizzards become routine.
And the sun shines so bright, you'll need sunscreen
to sculpt a snowman or ice figurine.

whether report
on the first day of December
wind howled
banshee death screams
wuthering at windows
whiteouts shroud the cabin
from a cumbersome world
cold clambers up the steps
creeps under my front door
settles in my soul
I must leave.

Weather
gets nasty
the wind blows so strong
snow is being whipped around, whiteouts.
