It was a memorable evening, bright
with my beautiful, charming fiancé
(once my wretched, tormented heart's delight)
near the old village of Fatheringay.
Drawn by the lilt of a whispery voice,
we found ourselves in a dark, rustic pub.
An inner misgiving questioned our choice.
A man served drinks from a hook on a stub.
After imbibing a strange, bubbling brew,
we dawdled the full moon-lit countryside.
In the lunar light, her eyes shone light blue -
mine, a phosphorus glow, like Mr. Hyde.
We gazed at the Hydra constellation,
where the Ghost of Jupiter nebula
somehow unfastened my reservation,
as its image fell on my retina.
That my grandfather was a lycanthrope,
and a mad cascade of serpentine thoughts,
this myriad of disclosures doused hope
(a demented disconnection of dots).
The vile dreams would slither back to their hole
too late for my near bride of eighteen.
The strong brew's effects had taken their toll.
My love was never again to be seen.
No, my true love was no more to be seen.

The last whispery remains
of a dream fray into forgetfulness.
I get up and go downstairs
to quietly sit in a chair
beside the window and stare
into the outside dark. A few stars
hang suspended
in the silhouette of a tree.
Six o'clock.
The morning seems
to have been waiting for me
to bring breath to its silence
and movement to its still.
It is like a child eager to show off
its tricks - birds bursting out
of bushy hiding places,
a backyard revealed from beneath
a cloak of nightlong dark
and me from my own.

A Single Leaf...
In shadows, silent, dancing
Every color – burgundy, rust, gold dust
Reflecting the dew drenched morning,
Thoughts still, softest blessings beckon
Laughing, almost unknown,
Settling the hurried pace,
Graceful, like a whisper
Fading from the maple’s branch
A gentle leaf, quiet
Breathing hope and faith
In melodies, collected
By those who praise
A single leaf, glistening
Glowing like the thanks
Flowing from hearts,
Knowing that love grows
On the winds of peace,
Abundant souls, showing
Autumn’s serenity, blowing
Beneath the skies, alive
God’s song, all along
Proving darkness wrong
With the life’s calling
Beautiful stories, breathed
By a single leaf, a whispery breeze, autumn’s admiring
Praise comes – from the very trees who’re shedding summer’s prayers.

It seems nothing is ever lost
but is transmuted, returns
to another state
or resurrects
into something new.
Take thoughts thrown from
a pier into the dark
water lapping below.
They make no sound
as they sink, resigned
to their fate,
becoming whispery filaments
of what had been
spectral inhabitants
of the head.
Long threads rise
to the surface and float
free to catch the moonlight,
becoming strands of silver
drifting off on an outgoing tide.
Where they go
nobody knows although
they are more than
what they seem,
webs set to catch
a passing soul and weave
a lovely face
into the tapestry
of a dream.

Feathery clouds, cotton candy castles, whispery wind,
My heart craves for the state of mind and existence as Clouds.
Giants asleep, guardians of valleys, backbones of earth,
My wisdom craves for the state of persona as Mountains.
Whispers through canyons, the lifeblood of the land, journeys without end,
My energy craves to embrace life like gushing Rivers.
Sapphire giants, cradles of life, canvases for sunset,
My passion craves for the whispers so deep as Oceans.

Cars are the wind on the streets
semi-truck wheels shriek thunder,
rain shatters against stone and brick walls
on dusty roads, oak trees fence with twigs—
wushu wooden clatters.
Dreadful arrays of dryads
azure and amethyst gossamer haze,
sleek, silken strikes gist an opera of wisteria,
as they sway to silver breeze's sibilant rustles.
They chant lullabies in lyrical lilts of hued iridescence,
of hearth and opals back to my scarlet nest.
Angelus silver trills, the sylphic sways of pure rays,
Coral rosary—incense strands of aurulent rimes
hum, endless hymns echo as choral evensong
alleluias softly peal out—doves with wet eyes
that drift upward on whispery—ethereal wings.
Ocean's plea emerges from apothic abyss,
a voice conveys the core of faxed shores and stars,
with earth and wind in a solemn tone.
A cosmic biography—in loud squeals and sighs
sea vernacular hinges on nature's lasting awe.
Breath goes to fog—snow melts into puddles—rain returns,
a china-white grave—encases the deceased deer,
before thawing in the morning—icy skin lies frozen.
An eerie distance holds my hand in a purifying blizzard.

The tittering and chittering was going on in a whispery way
Faeries meeting once a year, showing off in the sheerest sweet way
They were conniving to make the forest the best it had ever been
Best of all, each darling tree faerie had brought her own identical twin.

It's almost dreamlike,
the sun shimmering on the water,
faces passing by, the pier
hung with flags. I could be
anyone, tethered to a silver chord
sent out from the yearnings
of a distant mind
deep in sleep.
Or maybe something
more exotic made up
of the feathery light leftovers
drifting down from the wake
of a passing angel,
the whispery float of dust
marking passage to the divine.
Everything seems unreal.
I cannot measure the shape
that contains me, but have become
what I behold, shimmerings,
shadows, the reflected images
moving across a window,
the air drunk on the smell
of wattle.
Now can you see
what I have become -
this vague notion looking
for a way out of a shifting world
to live in the lines of a poem.

Where is the flamingo’s moon? It should have been here by now.
No one knew, but we were feeling exasperated, some feeling bitter.
Social media had prepared us for this gorgeous moon for a month.
She was supposed to be fuchsia with a touch of some pink glitter.
Wrong place! Another traveler announced; we need to go now.
We jumped into our jeeps and RVs and followed him of course.
Flamingo’s moon was up ahead, easily seen in the distance.
I hear she came from Venus, yelled an unknown source.
A thousand of us sat on the beach staring at the flamingo moon.
She was giving orders to flamingos in some ethereal way.
We were whispery or silent, for there was such awe in the air.
Frankly, this might have been my most glorious day.

In the breathless
Winds of March, gusts
Force the daffodils
To swirl, a waltz – the tango,
Disco possibly, the sun
A glistening ball, dazzling
Even the heart who smiles
Past the gales, into
The dawn’s whispery light,
Soft against the backdrop of starlit
Nights, whimsical – alive
Trusting the twisting bends
Spectacular curves, risky rotations
Flourishing like the flowers,
Who bend back and forth, hour
After hour – reflecting
The warmth of a spirit who silences
Every winter sadness with a
Inspirational gladness,
Echoed by the sunlight soothing
Just beyond the racing coils,
Winds meant to welcome
The spring, the new, the first
Revelation of fresh blooms,
Daffodils, tulips, crocus..
Bruising March with their beauty,
Blushing through the voice
Beneath breezes sent to free them
From their still winter graves,
Winds meant to fill them with
Gasping praise!

Birdies on a branch are cuddled up so fine
Bunched up closer than clothespins on a line
Snoring in sync, a luscious lullaby in a whispery way
The rest of the forest animals cannot look away
Their mama is gone, says one. Let’s help them to have lots of fun.

She slipped from among us
in search of good hummus,
like a whispery breeze
at the scent of chickpeas;
escapes for tahini
rivalled old Houdini.
Her nose for good cumin
was simply inhuman,
her longings, appeasing
on lemony squeezings.
She never found fault
with a good pink rock salt,
and oft was caught splurging
on fine extra virgin.
But she went on a bender,
took a shine to a blender,
sliced her tongue on that trough,
and her hum is still off…

Silence, in brilliant hues of winter’s flurries
Reassuring the moon that there is a wonder
Vibrating - beautiful, healing all the worries
Bringing light, stilling the night’s loudest thunder
Silence, in whispery breathes of frosty kisses
Laughing at the music beneath the serenity
Aching like the yearning of one the heart misses
Bringing laughter, gentling with sweet amenity
Silence, in graceful song, vibrating on the snow
Enchanting the spirit with the harmony, the dancing
Each flake a feeling, a joy, embracing, all aglow
With the inspiration, stirring the soul, entrancing

With all voices fled
Her's, included
This evening, further off
Eves now mythic
Is what's heard, despite
This blowy night
Not that, as dream-craved, midst
Fairy music?
Or, whispery, one
But found among
An exile-hearted land;
Ghostly tragic?

There is a light
Surrounding the soul
Like laughter and love
Calming and joyful
Sweetening thoughts
With inspiring
Smiles
There is a light
Caressing and clean
Falling all around us
Like grace so gentle
Coloring the air
In whispery
Praise
There is a light
Delighting with insight
Rhythms and rhymes
Poetry on the wind
Dancing with dreams
Piercing the dark
Embracing
There is light
Wonders of hope
Pouring from the heavens
Like rain, so soothing
Dews of exhilaration
Flooded imagination
Serenity
There is light
Flooding the night
With stardust thoughts
Images of moonbeams
Awakening prayers
To assurance
Belief
There is light
Singing in the sky
Glorifying His Son
The One who knows us
Loves without conditions
Gives the gift of
Freedom
I know Him
I praise Him
I love Him
