Warm-Up

Construction has been going on
Right by my river walk,
Where workers dig and man machines
As seagulls swoop and squawk.

This morning, though, I came upon
An unexpected sight,
Unusual enough to fill me
With a strange delight.

For, clad in hard hats and in vests
Of safety neon-green,
Construction workers exercised,
A gym-class-like routine.

There must have been two dozen men,
The foreman in the lead,
All striking poses, looking
Pretty good, I must concede.

I watched them for a minute,
Then they broke to start their day,
Their early morning workout
Like a macho man ballet.

Kittens warm up the garden with their happy meows
We see them coming, and the daffodil bows
The roses hide their thorns, so not to hurt their paws
They frolic and prance on the vine’s clever seesaws

Kittens charm the lilies, take away their growl.
They delight us in many ways. The zinnias howl.
Here they come! The kitten brigade is a sweet undertaking.
We watch them scamper and dance, their fluffy fur shaking.

Warm Up

Why weep while thousands of reasons at hand for you to smile,

Why stay in pain when it's just the lesson meant for you in the "Life Kyle",

Why struggle to follow, while you must be having your own style,

Why wait and stare when you've enough strength to run another mile?

Why feel so down over "trifles" that keep you away from being cheered up,

While having the bigger picture, never forget to get a "closeup",

Within your Phase, within your Track, still you're going to speed up,

You're going to Move, Run and Win, this verse is for you to Warm Up!

Premium MemberMom's Day Sonnet, a Glib Warm-Up

Of three billion contenders God considered
to be my mother some thirty-odd years
in the rear ago, the one He delivered,
all things considered, could’ve been (cue her tears)
much worse. My mom [insert a Hallmark cliché]
and for that reason alone, when compared
to yours, is a far better mother, okay?
I mean, look at this sonnet her son prepared -
it’s dang near a lock to squat on the fridge,
held by a magnetized green letter ‘B’-
‘B’ as in Beneath a Bridge I’d likely live,
for all my corners cut and talents blown,
had I not been Blessed with a mom like my own.

Mind Warm Up

Its been a minute since I touched down
with this pen and pad going mad
writing down everything going on around
seeing the fake like a see through plastic
old religions forsaken like Jurassic time periods
when I speak my yes and no answer are very serious
materialistic items wanted diamonds flaunted
gold and platinum chains can change
the way you your brain perceives the day
like the flick of your wrist it flashes away
time is something that you have to make the best of
it is what it is and it is just because
things are the way they are
like a meteor hitting earth that we once called a star
space is infinite but we are who we are
so please dont reach out to another life form
I am here to warn time rifts are torn
big bangs everyday new planets are born
but I feel that another life form would abuse us
like the government just use us
until we are old and useless
please excuse us
there are no excuses to excuse this. -TA

Warm-Up

4/1/17

Go ahead and press your luck

There was and always will be more stuff
Happening after or before us

And for now, this is just a warm-up

As lightning during another storm struck
A sycamore trunk

Then burned and roared toward brush
Before it was put out by a fire crew that arrived in four trucks

Some have or haven't gone to war once

Still I've got to learn much, being poor is tough

But I'm still after ores across any shores and bluffs

Inside a shack, there was improperly stored junk
Tools neglected, and worn with rust
All on the floor dust
None of the drawers shut
And the door is stuck

Far away in a field all that remained was boar guts
Nearby there was a tourbus
Stopping temporarily for lunch

Premium MemberTo Warm Up Mankind's Behind

Okay people, enough is enough
What's happening with this crazy weather
Cold enough to freeze the tootsies off a penguin
The eskimos are all huddled together

So far this winter's been the coldest in years
Certainly not a very happy camper
Civilized people shouldn't have to live like this
Us guys just love to be pampered

In all my years, through each Canadian winter
This one surely takes the cake
Not at all pleased, just want you to know
This is more than this guy can't take

If I knew who to contact I'd pay big dollars
For the sake of all mankind
Beg them to moderate these winter temps
To warm up mankind's behind

Warm Up Song

Start on B and two other open strings I say
Strum down and hammer to the note less than A

Strum up the strings it was a minor
Strum down on C this notes much finer

2 quick strums , down,up and move to G
Single pick ,palm mute ,low string E

Be sure to finger, firm on the 3rd fret
They call it G, this notes a good bet

Full clean strums on this chord
Almost done, I hope your not bored

Down,up,Down
Down,Up,Down

We are still playing the chord of G
Repeat it all play my rhythm with me

You can repeat this, a time or two
Before long the same sound won't do

keep the progression it does need to remain
I usually arpeggiate so its not the same

Now mix it up between picking and strums
But don't change the timing or miss the drums

This song is of love and sweetness that I wrote
But I cant finds the words to go with the note

So instead of playing this tune without a word
Ill write you this song with no music note to be heard

Leaning into me,

you brought your long dark lashes

right up next to mine.

Butterfly kisses, you said -

before I’d all but melted.

The cute way your cheeks turn red

when I catch you watching me;

the rush when we barely touch.

There’s nothing hotter.

The Warm Up

Lets get the mind right
Keep the prize in sight
Lets get prepared
For the metaphors I write
Its all in a line
Got the New York state of mind
My hand is out to reach
I’m about to take what’s mine
My thoughts so wrong
That my brain should be fined
I’m tired of being broke
You thought I had weed heads with me
My dreams went up in smoke
My thoughts will become reality
Commit no more Fatalities
Take this, take that
Will soon be my morality
