William Wee the whacky walrus from Waikiki
brought along a book, a banana and a ukelele
the book was about aliens, he was creeped out about them
the banana was rotten in places, we cut it down on a whim
the ukelele was great, and William Wee’s singing voice fine
He sang songs to us all day, I believe I counted twenty-nine
You cannot say he is not a party all by himself, my dad said.
William Wee was humble and shy; his ears promptly turned red

When not out clubbing
hey-ho the merry oh
at night with the Inuit
I suspect by intuit
an intrepid Inuk named Nanook
a-hunting walrus he would go
with his trusty harpoon
traipsing 'cross the ice and snow
then when paddling afloat he went
in the harsh Arctic environment
to keep out the bitter cold and damp
in the very bottom of his boat
there was a fiery seal oil lamp
which eventually burned a hole
and without trace into oblivion he sank
with nothing to mark the place
in those deep dark blue depths so dank
even so who can ever forget
this tall tale chilling yet true
as his demise to the pithy proverb gave rise
'You can't have your kayak and heat it too'

Walrus tusks are longer than I thought
Length of a yardstick, new and store bought
Females' tusks are much longer; they serve as teeth
Sharper than a copper dagger in a leather sheaf

There is no beached whale
though a walrus protecting the sea
Whom will attack anyone
invading his territory.
Capsizing boats or kayaks then
killing many aboard
Causing serious harm and tusks
with dominance they've roared.
Ahh the walrus-stay clear from
If you see one on the shore
Run away without delay
Don't stand there to explore.
Respect them from a distance
at home behind a screen,
Though they are great like mammals
Yet like people, can be mean.
Imagine 2 tonnes chasing you
for you've interfered with mating
Well that's a thought I just caught and
now could use sedating!

Go
Wherever you want to
There’s nothing I can do
Still I hope
It’s you heading back to me
That’s what I’d like to see
I wouldn’t mind
I wish
I could know
Just what was next
To come
I live
In this fantasy of hope
That things go
Just the way I want them to
If I could be
So blessed they would
And if I
Should let this go
It’d hurt a bit too much
So for now
I’ll keep this idea goin
That things will work our
Until they don’t
I just wana handle this situation
Like a train operator
But I’m stuck to chance
Like a game of craps
Whether or not I win
I’ll be in for one
Hell of a game
Called ‘Life and Love’

I'll be kissing you
In our canoodlers' canoe
Paddlin' 'round the walrus tank
At the Tacoma Zoo.

The Walrus, he is an ugly brute,
Made entirely out of rubber,
Lounging on the shore all day,
Like discarded old whale blubber.
Sea Lion on the other hand,
Is arguably, I think quite cute,
Gliding along the beach at play,
In his slick grey leather suit.

Enlighten me please
why windows are solid
yet transparent
Why the moon shines even as
the sun's rise envelopes
our mind's eye
How a rain drop can fall
thousands of feet
come to a crashing halt on a
slab of concrete
and though scattered
it's matter survives
How the walrus keeps
the harem
yet i
find it arduous
to keep
one
