Premium MemberThe Garden of Eden

Desert Botanical Garden - Phoenix, AZ

Come and find me in this garden;
I know not where the hours go.
Palm fronds brush against my cheek –
   Lone toadstool, blush of mallow.

They say this is the Garden of Eden –
   Rocks of lichen, red yucca.
But I think this is probably heaven –
   Birds-of-paradise and vinca.

You will find here a green shelter;
   Shade fills the inner sanctuary.
Canaries whistle o'er yonder –
Dew drops on a banana leaf.

Let's be as kids like we once were;
Take my hand, let's go find its end.
Make a wish on a four-leaf clover –
   White passion vine, black-eyed Susan.

Heaven can wait if we persevere.
Let my bosom be your headrest.
Morning glories open to the day;
   Sure feels like we're heaven-blessed.

Shades of Purple

Shades of Purple

Canterbury Bells
planted in a row
Violets scattered
everywhere they grow
Lilacs sweet lilacs
the best scent in Spring
Fresh Hyacinths bloom
in a purple ring
Clematis climbs up
a broken barn door
while Vinca spreads
across God’s green floor.
Shades of purple bring
pure perfume to me
Lavender, Periwinkle
What a sight to see.

You Give Me, I Take

Again I don't want anything
Apart from your love
Because of your love in the middle
Your body, mind and heart are everything
Rose and vinca
Lotus and sunflower
Different kind of like your laugh
Different season, they are also
Your laugh and sad face
I have the mind to be able to see
So your face I love
My cry like you cry together
My happiness just as you also be with happiness
So your body and heart I love
Darling I season for you
You nature for me
You give me, I take
I give to you, You take
We both cry sometimes
Sometimes we both laugh
Darling we both love
We are both love

Premium MemberViolet Garden

Violet softness blushes the cheeks of the gently swaying purple vinca, and murmurs sweetly of
Violet cloud filled breezes caressing their green leaves, like
Violet lips that whisper the bitter longing flavor of deep blue love songs when snow arrives.
Violet ice tinged coleus shiver beneath the white covering of blinding cold as
Violet perfumed roses reserve their fragrant blooms under the silvery veil of winter.

(purple, murmurs, caressing, green, flavor, blue, white, blinding, fragrant, silvery)

I walk through the garden in early Spring.
The purple, fragrant earth murmurs with
each step of my blue and white shoes
caressing their moistened soles.
Green leaves and silvery
sun flavor the scene
in blinding light,
that paints the
blossoms
mauve.

Premium MemberTo Fail Well

Fowl meadow grass - Glyceria striata - the striations
on the lemma. Drooping rachis
a weeping willow of a grass.

Recurring periwinkles, myrtle, Vinca.
Helicopter petals. Evergreen leaves.
Escaped from gardens, alien or native?

A little further by the spruce stand
a new mustard, cuckoo flower - Cardamine -
with pinnately compound leaves. What a find!

A good day turns bad.
After you've died, one of them dogs digs up your grave.
You may sit in the rain and think.

Maiden pink.
The dark circle inside the flower
a g-string or garter.

O to fail well. To lay low. To live long.
To run slow. Feel the hill. Pressing down.
Do less. Until one thing's done well.

Premium MemberPerspective

Today I stopped along a roadside path,
Drawn to swaths of gold and blue.
A calliope of yellow mustard, with hues
Of purple vinca, and wild sweetpeas too.

Harsh winter rains lay this hillside bare
But nature’s will the landscape overcame.
No artist’s brush could best this scene
This painting with a grass-green frame.

My burdened heart beat with hope anew,
I felt the dark and troubled day recede.
Perspective gripped my tired soul,
And gave peace to a heart in need.

Spring Anthem

daffodils
nodding
their heads
keeping rhythm
with the wind

miniature
white
rose-like
bridle veil
bowing over the fence

tiny wildflowers
in pinks and whites
happily enjoying
extra hours
of daylight

vinca vines
on the hillside
in showy deep
lavender
sublime

sunshine yellow
forsythia
blooms
burst open
on bare limbs

a bushy,
rose-pink
japonica
turns its face
to the sun

spring
sings her anthem
as soft showers begin
welcoming new life
to earth again
