Brothel of delights
Temple to serve men and gods
A bridge between void and light
Playground of freedom
Church of law and God's judgment
A bridge falling into void

A couple sips a second cup,
discussing how the day should go.
A quick look out the window brings
some words of joy, some sighs of woe.
She sees a chance for gardening,
to work outside the whole day through.
Sunshine, blue skies--how heavenly!
She can't resist the springtime view.
He sees how tall the grass has grown
and dreads the lengthy chore ahead.
He'll mow the grass for hours on end,
clean up, and fall right into bed.
A wintry morning they look out
and see white swirling drifts of flakes.
She says, "Oh, what an awesome sight."
He groans, "Oh, what a mess it makes!"
As they drive by the Peaceful Rest,
she says, "Should we be buried there?
He shrugs his shoulders and replies,
"Since we'll be dead, why should we care?"

Turning your eyes to distant stars,
You witness infinity spinning as it has
Aeons upon aeons before you were born,
Orbits and memories, oceans and dust.
Wherever you are, but a speck,
An ambulatory grain, sparkling, alive,
Epitome of the momentary
Whether a witness on a Vientiane roof,
An ancient observatory in Beijing
Or some sandy step in Samarqand
Your true tale
One amid seemingly endless stories
No less, no more than any other.
Dare you speak of identity and legacies?
May as well debate the dreams of spinosaurs!
And yet we sing, defying our future silence,
The vast eternities pending
Knowing our yawning cosmos has been
Changed by far less long before
And perhaps once again
With the same ease as a Sunday sabaidee.

Look deeper still
To know clear will
A voice now speaks
Feel what truth streaks
Know how heart feels
Live then sure will
Give in to joy
Let peace employ
Here by the way
Watch change play
Poise follows choice
Purge noise from voice

Kid with a wet cloth slopping on the floor:
Water dropping everywhere and trickles free.
Mum comes dashing in the door -
Can’t you try to make less mess for me?
I have to clean this now and go down on my knee!
Oh mum, please don’t wipe it all away -
And leave that big wiggly trickle to run.
This is a map of South America I’ve drawn today
And that’s the mighty River Amazon.
In all the world, it’s the biggest one.

Note
Pretty close to the truth, for as kid I was a map-o-holic, (still am),
and drew maps freehand whenever I had the chance.

some say he's just confident,
you say, no, he's very arrogant,
others say he's opinionated,
you say simply hard-headed;
for some, he's open-minded,
for you, plainly uncommitted,
for others, he's truly tolerant,
for you, he's heretic, ignorant,
some say he's a freedom-fighter,
you call him terrorist murderer,
these matters of point of view,
viewed and construed by you!

Barefoot on a sand dune staring far
Feeling I was standing by a star
In so much space at speeding pace
My pulse did race
As I embraced my right to face
This solid place
On shifting drifting sand
This glimpse of time
Caught in rhyme
Eternal twisting fate
Expanding at demanding rate
Diminishes my self to see
A dune of sand
Is all that's left
Of mountains
Rising from the sea
