Man Agony For Love

Prayed & prayed
Years of misery
Each day of agony
Yearning for a woman
Come into my world
Ask God to send me a
Angel,
Wholesome submissive
Respectful nurturing
Loving kind hearted
Cause 2-1=1 all by myself
Committed to hell

Suffering in silence
best ain’t good enough
Love hard not good enough
Vindictiveness subdue my pride
Manipulation got my mental in a gridlock
Illusion flake my reality
Lord please help
Weak flesh tied me to wickedness

Sociopath ascending on Vernon
Poison my thrill
The thrill is gone
At the lowest
Looking outside myself
My covenant
Spirit check out
Searching for connect
Connect with my true half

Starving for newness
Wishing on a star
When a change to come
Ahhh... close my eyes
Visualize her
Pecan smooth skin
Angelic smile
Crying inside
She out there somewhere
Lord guide me

Blessed the day
She my world
Thrilled my soul at peace
Reset on happiness
Pause on misery
New faze begun
Heartthrobs like king
Solomon’s

Premium MemberWartime Wedding

You would've labeled it a shotgun wedding,
if you'd seen how we rushed it,
snagging the license on Friday morning
and exchanging vows that same evening.

No white dress, no people-packed pews,
simply a long drive in my brother's Chevy,
from St. Louis to Morse Mill, Missouri;
that July day burned into our memories
at a hundred four degrees, no A/C,
and a flat tire on the road to the church.

Uncle Vernon officiated
in a less-than-five-minute ceremony.
You mean that's it? Is this legal?
I certainly didn't feel married!
"They'll think you're pregnant,"
my mother said. No chance of that,
with our entire courtship advanced
solely through airmail letters.

He was marked for Japan,
courtesy of the U. S. Air Force.
Only death or instant wedlock
were valid pleas for allowing leave.
We hadn't clapped lips together in 10 months.
When he called, I said yes,
and we had the shotgun wedding,
without the gun.

All About Me

Makayla
Caring, smart, loving, curious
Daughter of Vernon and Trudy
lover of shopping, animals, crossword puzzles
who feels happy at school, sad when animals die, and alive when out doors
who gives love, kindness, happiness
who fears doctors, needles, spiders
who would like to see the black sea, Hollywood, and India
who lives in Clear spring, Maryland

Is It Really Him

I met a man he was kind and gentle and offer to help me
of all people. I was afraid because he was after all a stranger to me.
In this day and time one can not be to trusting.Something told me to
to trust him and I did so I got in the car with him.Do you beleive
in him and that he will still work for you? I had little faith but he
still beleived in me. I trusted him and got in the car and went with this
man he took me to his home in a little place call Mt. Vernon with just
a drug store and grocery store and a couple of churchs but it was a
big house and he had a big family and they welcome me in so I felt
at home and in time fell in love with him. We were married and had
two children 30 years laters I still beleive in him.

Premium MemberA Scannell Ekphrasis Recited

He lived and loved,then
sharpened a pen,opening
wide his heart and life for
all to see,his legacy in
structured prose & poetry.
But there was more, in store,
his past dug up from memory,
a personal perspective forever
revealed in four tomes of biography.

Orb of Ethereal

Sunset is deep violet color of spirit inhaled by mountain clouds
Snowy peaks stand tall as air wind crowds
In the mystery the visage of the mountains this area enshrouds
The mists of liquid soul shine are beautiful but you don’t want to feel them as thunderclouds

The orb of beyond magic with vortex in it like surreal ethereal typhoon
The magic is spinning and building like billows on the sea lagoon
The cyclonic hyper cane eerier then nirvana and the harvest moon
Magnificent and truly mesmerizing is its countenance but soft yet uncanny is its tune

It is the divine bliss
That is like smile or a kiss
Yet of fury it is abyss
Far more enchanting then Vernon autumn that stories of ethereal will reminisce

Where Heads Butt

Where Heads Butt in the USA or

I Don't Believe in Bodily Harm

What we all did was to dilly dally

And our rear ends ended up in Raleigh;

Then later on back of little Billy Goat

Took a ride to somewhere in Shallotte.

We took another trip for a historical thrill;

Had an incredible tour of Charlottesville;

Went to Washington by way of Mt. Vernon.

To see the tree leaves which were turning.

We wanted to watch fish as they play,

So we both went back to Chesapeake Bay;

Up North again would go willy nilly

Where John Wayne was with a pilgrim in Philly.

Ventured South to Florida to find a fantasy

In a world which was made by Walt Disney

And nothing could be finer or even greater

Then being in Carolina with an awful alligator.

Food and Elvis

Food and Elvis

I had opened a can of low fat rice-pudding and was
watching a food program, a big cook off in Tupelo.
Elvis father, Vernon, once built a small house here,
it cost him $ 250, but he could not pay the bank and
lost it; now the house is a shrine .

The winner, a cook who looked like a body builder,
said the pork had to be so tender that a toothless
man could eat it, and the sauce had to be right,
not too sweet or too sharp but with a hint of lemon.

When Elvis got to be famous he bought his parents
a big house and filled it with junks, he never been in
a fine home, how was he to know how the rich lived.
Cooks have come a long way, from the backroom to
where a bitter, low paid man resided and cleaned his
nails with a carving knife… and now TV stars.

Elvis best food was not pork, but a whole loaf, sliced
long ways, with a thick layer of peanut butter, bacon
and jam washed with sweet coca cola.

Tenant Moves

Tenant Moves

Have a job in Manhattan,
Tenant in MT. Vernon,
And two bedrooms.

Do not know if I trust,
This young man full of energy,
And bad karma to proceed.

Five, six days, at work one day,
And standing still and looking,
To see the tenant move.

And there appear a cloudy scene,
And in this cloud, a door opens wide,
And behold, tenant in my bedroom!

In slow motion, he looks and searches,
Into the clothes upon the bed,
And in the drawers of my bedroom set.

So, I see this vision, in the middle of the day,
While working in Manhattan,
Ninety miles away.

Elvis Memorabillia

Elvis Memorabilia

Prepare yourself for quite a shock
Coming to the auction block
Undies worn upon the pelvis
Of the now departed Elvis
His daddy Vernon wants to sell them
By their looks you’d hate to smell them
They’re stained, they’re stretched
The dirty drawers soon can be fetched
For a measly 10 K pounds
Or there about is how it sounds
What would you do with Elvis undies
Especially ones like these old grungies
But you can be sure some diehard fans
Will take them off of Vernon’s hands
So if you’re into underpants
This here auction’s your best chance
And at the other end of the scale
His personal Bible will be on sale
I for one would choose the latter
Not the one with Elvis splatter

Doc Vernon

Kokoda ‘s Doc Vernon

Doctor Vernon in 1942 was in New Guinea green,
He had been there looking after the native people,
A civilian went with the 39th Militia battalion, was seen,
A hundred at a time, sent to stop 10,000 Japanese,

These boys were too young to go to the Middle East war,
400 boys and old officers, to stop the Japanese,
No machine guns, or mortar, had to use I’m sure,
10,000 enemy came up, surging up from the shore,
15 year old boys put their age up, in battle if you please,

Doc. Vernon patched em up,
Pulled bullets out of wounds
 right across the battlefield,
old man, yes he was doing,
Up an down the mountains ,
and hollows in between,
60 old age bugger, deaf,
Sprang about, as sweet as kerosene,

Doc said “hold the light nearer boy”,
 as a Woodpecker machine gun,
cut chaff from the hut roof , while,
Doc. Said “the rats are bad here son,”

When the Aussies drove the Japanese,
 back across the mountains,
Old bugger in a blue jumper ,
Was still there to count on,

Still there with the Aussies,
To patch em up, yes son,
A hero of Kokoda ,
Overlooked by more than some.

On ya cobber, Doc. Vernon.

Premium MemberAutumn Rain

Summertime is growing weary.
Welcome to the autumn rain,
A new season taking over
Hydrating the earth again.

Arid land with celebration,
Greedily absorbs each drip,
With the dry and dusty flora,
Raising eager mouths to sip.

Running rivulets of water,
Turning grasses back to green.
It is showering time for nature
Every plant a new washed sheen.

Summer lingering in spasms,
She must abdicate with grace
This is changing of the seasons.
Fall is slipping into place.

Autumn dressed in leaves of color
Gold and scarlet, every tone.
Pre-apology for winter.
With a splendor all her own.
