Unwieldy Poems

Alarm Clock

An alarm clock.
On the edge of the nightstand.
No one came after me the whole night.
Except the skin of my thoughts.
Shaking but nothing.
It’s like I woke up and ate gravity and passed out again.
It’s all about time.
Wrappers crinkling underfoot.
More and more trash scattered.
Warping.
The sound of the garbage truck is blending into everything…
And no one calls me anymore!
An alarm clock.
Which cooks up seconds for us.
And burns us.
Feeling unwieldy when I stand.
Getting up even though I’ll be late anyway.
Being strong is doing things to make yourself later and later.
Uncooking the toast.
Unbrushing your teeth.
Creating more places to be.
Places which are just outlines.
There’s still that alarm clock.
That goes on.

Fountain

As I drink from that strange fountain.
I’m going to give you a single clue.
And tell you where the treasure lies.
The whole treasure,
Could take hours to explain through the sparkles.
I have nothing except my mind which is like a microscope.
The sky is bugging me and made of dots.
Rotting logs shaped oddly.

I think the water around here is weird.
Unwieldy, wild, and howling.
The fireflies make sense.

Floating is a cop out.
It’s more like…
Water but also not.
Fluidity which is part of my steps.
I don’t have feet, just Them.

As I splash water everywhere.
The fountain turned off,
But I am the fountain, and I am the one.
Let me hand over the clue.
Paper which is,
Waterlogged.

As I spit out the water from that strange fountain.
I realize I might have a problem after all.
They turned off the fountain.
I’ll take a nap first.
Then try to figure out how to get my legs to work again.

Upon a Leaf

Identical to a water droplets in a leaf caused by rain,
tears inside an eye also drops as sorrowness gain.
As thing get added,
clear precious blood flooded.
Heaviness of unshed tears becomes unwieldy,
gradually drops as reflex tear hefty.

As things seems difficult to be blown,
the tears slip progressively on its own.
where the eyes seems to be in grief,
as water carried by its leaf.
Inaudible eyes of unspoken words,
yet perceptible through a glance.
The process of heaviness,
will the output of weightlessness.

The Smart Machine

I am a smart machine.
And the smarter the better.
I am your big relief for unwieldy
and analogue brains.
Awkward and historically clumsy.
just applaud me for your
historic gains.
Your gains of streamlining,
saving time, knocking out biases
and your collective energy saved
by nothing else but my automated
repetitive tasks.
But don't try to threaten me with
another Luddites' revolt, because
the Luddites of 1811 had dreamt
to see my day.

Premium MemberThe Pregnant Pause

The little linger, the wee wee wait-a-while,
says it all wordlessly, unwieldy:
"The momentary pause is pregnant!"
with distinct possibilities of a bow-out clause.
I can see and smell the stench of doubt
as you look away,
breaking our eye-to-eye contact.
That tiny delay is your way of saying it,
without saying it in words.
You, the soothsayer-in-silence bleats:
"The momentary pause is pregnant!"
Listen!

Embrace The Day

Embrace the Day

Before manscaping with my hair trimmer,
my arm hair army wrapped further,
further around my cylindrical arms,
like wheat stalks before the harvest.
All atilt in a summertime wind
where the view of the soil has grown dim,
rustling above farmer-sized arms
swollen from trips to the local, town gym.
Some near black, some unwieldy, and some
white-paper white.
I’m short sleeved today, and
I’m feeling right, and freshly groomed.
My arms now swing freely on arcs,
and rise up to greet the sun.
It was a bitter winter,
which tamped my goodwill, I think, as I
embrace the day.

These Mortal Parts

I'm not much attached to this body,
it feels like it's on a short leash
while the brain drags it around
like a reluctant old dog.

Long cantankerous years
have pummeled it into a shape
it never used to own, never saw coming.

I am by no means special
we all acquire these 'special' parts,
that cling to us like limpets and lichen
many are visible only to the mind.

Tree's show their scars on the outside
internal excrescences run deeper.
Wasted landscapes never repopulated
are sutured integral with still verdant fields,
still workable earth
but we know

that vehicles this unwieldy
have no fail-safe switch
even if we could find it.

A Bright Start

Finding myself devastated in the middle of the run,
I built up the courage to start with the new rising sun.
With thoughts of all the encountered failure coming one by one,
Making my life look like a piece of pavement unwieldy done,
I snuggled up with a few achievements, leaving behind none

With a tint of fear,
With a skeptical attitude towards the coming year.
I was bolstered up with a lot of cheer.
The importance of treating the ends as a start dawned on my broken tears.

The ship of state lumbers along the horizon
Like a gigantic seagoing vessel, she struggles
To stay afloat in turbulent waters she lies in,
A pilot must keep her afloat during troubles.

Like a gigantic seagoing vessel, she struggles
With a recalcitrant, unwieldy operational crew,
A pilot must keep her afloat during troubles
Knowing how and when precisely what to do.

With a recalcitrant, unwieldy operational crew
Unwilling to cooperate on the better course
Knowing how and when precisely what to do
The pilot must the proper decorum enforce.

Unwilling to cooperate on the better course
A malfunctioning crew can cause it to capsize
The pilot must the proper decorum enforce,
Through a long dark night, approaching sunrise.

A malfunctioning crew can cause it to capsize
Leaving disaster in its wake, loss immeasurable
Through a long dark night, approaching sunrise,
A pilot makes decisions to many unfathomable.

Leaving disaster in its wake, loss immeasurable
To stay afloat in turbulent waters she lies in,
A pilot makes decisions to many unfathomable,
The ship of state lumbers along the horizon.

The Lost Thoughts

As delusions replace memories.

I don’t understand how I got these enemies.

It’s not fair, not really…

My thoughts had just become unwieldy.

My blood was at a simmer.

And my mind was getting dimmer.

All I have is scared.

All I am is impaired.

Tsunami

Sometimes when a wayward odd event
Sends tremors through the corporal port,
The unwieldy waves scoop the sediment
Settled beneath the layer of comfort ,
Splashing and blowing out any impediment
That might as well check and contain-
With the ruling sanity towards aid , bent -
The inner essence  of  survival  and  strain ;
Everything  is  lost  in  disorder  and  pain ;
The debris being carried aloft and away,
The mind set to resurrect and rebuild,
Lacking vigour ,is in an infirm sway  ;
Hope remains strong as ever to regain:
Will the live spirit contest or just yield......?

Premium MemberOpportunity

Life leaves scratches
        her fear of limitations
        in an unwieldy gait
        uncertain in her body
self wisdom that wounds
                       knowing missed chances
what to value, what to preserve?
her edifice cracked by misfortune can be restored
and every fragment isn't a puzzle

at age sixty, a bootleg feel for indulgence rises
flowered dress to fuel her traction
                         as shoebox isolation fades
new force of will
to seize joy like a ring toss hoop
to drop the faithful security of mask
             a jump off fences

she follows the river's path to a seniors' dance,
             skirting forlorn alleyways,
to a hall decorated welcome, like the wave of circus flags
as melodies rising, loosen barricaded thoughts
to the beauty of aged embracing
in a slow dance that doesn't feel one sided
            movement that sways in touch
                                a dash of spice
            movement that blooms
                                        the space around her

Premium MemberCoffee Cup Canzonetta

Our back cupboard, the one which lies above
the microwave, houses backup coffee
cups, with faded image of turtle doves
or like the camel cup just unwieldy.
Others with flaws, cracks or broken handles
patiently waiting for someday repair
holding memories some might say shambles
patiently waiting for someday repair.

Premium MemberRed Stag

Mystical Red stag altered his stance,
Highland terrain, salutes drifting fog
Enchanted wise eyes, fixated glance
Scent rides harsh winds, exuberant gun dog

Highland terrain, salutes drifting fog
Concealed rifle nose, braggart stalker
Scent rides harsh winds, exuberant gun dog
Trophies, souvenirs, wildlife hawker

Concealed rifle nose, braggart stalker
Game breaking cover, birds soaring high
Trophies, souvenirs, wildlife hawker
Gun shots scatter, death decaying sky

Game breaking cover, birds soaring high
Rustic stamina, unwieldy prance
Gun shots scatter, death decaying sky
Mystical Red Stag, altered his stance
