Universals Poems | Examples

Aristotle To Aquinas

Outside the mind
they’re no universals
Conflation and trend
— humanity’s bane

How I used to be
Is now old news to me
If I said observation is the only way
Someone should ask did I observe the universe today
Or am I able to observe the observing of all things?
Particulars and universals will never exchange rings
If I said life is meaningless
Someone should ask does that statement have meaning?
If so I need to do some intellectual cleaning
I have toys in the attic
My thinking has become static
That is problematic
If I said there is no absolute truth
Someone should ask is that absolutely true?
I should become a sleuth
Or at least a tailor to mend something borrowed
with something blue,
and something old with something new
You can't put new wine in an old wine skin
You can't re-enter the womb to be born again
Pointing the way by Ithuriel's sword
Reanimating you by God's [S]Word
So truly the truth will set you free
If God will grant it to thee
While He is yet near.....seek
As the Holy Spirit does quietly speak

Green civil compassion
and smoky brown passion
passing on empowering Yang universals
enlightening Yinitarian dialogue,

Economically
and politically cooperative
co-invested discussion
prioritizing
budgeting
planning
planting
harvesting

Saving integrity's potential love seeds
for next regeneration's cooperative
EarthTribe harvest.

This interfaith nondenominational
nonpartisan
nonviolent conversation
about whether or not
humane-divine love
is a ZeroSum
Win/Lose
merely mortal Game

Unstable
non-resilient
or NonZero Sum
Win/Win emergent,

Cognitively elegant,
emotively exquisite
co-elliptical passions
quietly restored
green peace-mongering.

To Panchanan Mahato

No differences ’tween us, only bonding
No government, only (very strong) binding
Friends we were once, ah, yes, as thick as thieves!
But now we’re lost in this world—me it grieves
What with portals new, contacts new,
A life diasporic, yet true friends few,
In this publish-or-perish web, wide-n-cold,
Whereabouts not known: p’haps lost in your world
Of Universals new ’n Structures untold,
Like the Différance of my Post-, Post-, world.

I do hope this verse will reach you somehow
Like any bottled letter would—anyhow!

                                                      —Ram, R. V.

Premium Member Different

I'm not really different from you
I'm just from a different place
Our bodies are so similar in build
But with a different face

I have no real special powers
I can't disappear before your eyes
Feelings are another thing we share
From my eyes I can even cry

I have the same amount of digits
On what I walk, and what I hold
Forget what was said when you were young
Don't believe all that your told

Internally like you I have to breathe
We're from the same universe after all
In skeletal bodies we're much the same
Even in death we're mourned by all

I now sit among my fellow universals
Against a backdrop of starry skies
In a way they seem so familiar
Now accepted in each others eyes
