East of tomorrow
west of the moon
A moment in time
too late and too soon
Playing a love song
that hides in delight
Calling us upward
through storms in the night
East of tomorrow
west of the moon
Our past and our future
uncouple and swoon
Life in that moment
death left behind
The time and the place
—forever defined

Impossible mission to uncouple accountability,
(no matter minuscule - veritable drop within
figurative bucket when quantity contrasted/
compared alongside industrial waste courtesy
major corporations), yet helplessness prevails
survival (mine) inextricably bound trappings
twenty first century allow, enable, and provide
exploiting even dollop so called nonrenewable
resources, I could sacrifice corporeal entity -
body, mind and spirit within eyeblink exhales
last breath before becoming repurposed - inert
cremated ashes randomly scattered across all
points encompassing terrestrial world wide web.
Obituary -
Despite havoc primate species did wreak
from the afterlife I figuratively speak
and applaud millennials whose peak
performance accorded courtesy
your token "aged hippie,"
mild mannered and meek
and long haired pencil necked geek,
whose disembodied spirit
now volunteers as Halloween sideshow freak
incorporating gallows humor tongue in cheek.

Seize chances that change shape as we reach for them
Attain steam that rises like an uphill train
Toil through the colorless surface of work
Uncouple the space harness of self doubt
Rejoice in the seasonal landscape that grips imagination
Nourish civility's charm, ethereal, like the ash rings of Saturn

A rummage, a good look around
I looked but all that I found
Was empty
A darkened void, no hint enjoyed
All inspiration, unemployed
And empty
No notion, no emotion
No inner commotion
No spark that enlightens
No flash of what frightens
Just empty
No Halloween whispers
No birthday nor Christmas
No first date, no worst date
No indiscreet sisters
Just empty
This my domain, my nowhere bound train
Where darkness and haze uncouple my wain
My keyboard untapped, my paper still plain
As I find my brain is empty again.

There’s comfort in knowing,
things come and they go
The wind brings a newness,
whether lilac or snow
There’s joy in all laughter,
freely accrued
Music in words,
spoken only by you
A place to be born,
a moment to die
An ending beginning,
last chance to decide
That question unasked,
its answer unclaimed
Both orphans of joy,
… no adopted refrain
To sing from the rafters,
an unfinished hymn
That angel before you,
the angel within
Death’s only proffer,
…one remembrance to choose
As the season’s uncouple
—your world again new

There’s comfort in knowing,
things come and they go
As the wind brings a newness,
whether lilac or snow
There’s joy in all laughter,
given freely and new
And music in the words,
chosen only by you
There’s a time to be born,
and a time then to die
An ending beginning,
a final stop on your ride
What was right at the start,
truer still at the end
And that angel before you,
now the angel within
With deaths only offer,
…one last memory to choose
As the seasons uncouple,
—and your world again new
