Liberty, equality, fraternity,
beautiful chimeras carved into the republican marble,
yet behind the motto, the Black Code,
the papal bull,
and the slave-trading betrayal as backbone.
Slavery, colonization,
xenophobia, negrophobia,
these are the legacies they disguise as civilizations.
Human zoos, colonial trading posts, the colonial pact,
the savage plunder wrapped in a tricolor flag.
In banana republics, tyranny is always under contract,
Françafrique and its neo-colonial military bases
feed African dictators at the service of the West.
Africa, the third world, whose misery has been planned for millennia,
this is how they name the cradle of humanity.
Under their blades, raw materials
become a procession of genocides,
and neo-colonial poaching devours heritages.
Assimilation, integration, alienation,
these three chains forged by the schools of the empire of Enlightenment.
But human dignity refuses to be sold,
the integrity and identity of courageous souls will never prostitute themselves.
Humanity and Africanity,
these two flames proclaim aloud
that the womb of oppressed peoples
shall never be reduced to the dust of servitude and submission.

Yes, indeed. Alright. I'm lily-white
all 9+ feet of me, a tricolor sight
But now I'm 'racist' and 'insensitive'
because 'brown pigment I lack'
A half-nelson applied to my aching 'red-neck'
Cry 'UNCLE,' they scream, the political hacks

Hey you, dog!
With your white tail tipping past my window
Or your face, tricolor, pressed against the glass,
I can see you even in the dark garden,
But now our garden games are past.
The couch stretched out beside me for a day or two,
The water bowl still full and going green.
The door bell rings and I'm alone to answer.
Frankie Boy! Bad dog! I thought I'd be the one to leave.

Tricolor yarn soft as a baby
Do I knit or do I crochet?
Slip stitch, one knit, one purl
Scarves, booties, and blanket
One stitch at a time
Soft and pretty
So much joy

Proud nation paraded in patriotic attire
Saffron, white, and green frills
Swung and danced in rhythm
Warriors showed gallant touch in discipline
And marched folklores displayed diversity
Dancer’s cadences added colors to the day
And tricolor-ed flags floated in heart
Singing anthem on lips
Offered flowers to the rested souls
Nation’s thickest roar
Rose beyond clouds

Tiranga (Tricolour)
First unfurled, was the Indian tricolor;
on Everest, the world's highest peak.
All the three colours are deliberated
to give some message and speak.
Dark saffron, white and Indian green,
the three colours of Indian national flag;
all in horizontal rectangular bars,
top to bottom, respectively placed.
Green band at bottom tells Indians,
grow with greenery and agriculture;
White band in middle of it, gives us
message of peace, truth and culture.
Saffron says, be brave and courageous,
don't hesitate to sacrifice if nation needs;
Wheel of twenty four spokes at centre tells,
on the path of progress always proceed.
Made of hand spun Indian cloth, Khadi,
at one hand symbolises pride of nation;
Design and colour on the other, say symbolically
what ought to do the great Indians.
On every Independence and republic days
Tiranga is unfurled widely in the country.
That reminds the people; be nice, graceful,
peaceful, prosper and keep in mind your duty.

Amazing India
I am from India, where the Taj rests,
We heartily welcome all our guests.
Worshiping Mother Nature is our greatest trait,
We are the world's largest democratic state.
When the world is looking forward for a vision,
ISRO is there with its impossible mission.
We are famous not only for our players,
But authors, poets, dancers and actors.
India is the land of Dreams and Opportunities,
Of Traditions, Miracle and dazzling Beauties
India has all the colors of the rainbow
Festivals, fun, love and respect have easy flow.
Military our strength, Tricolor our pride,
Our constitution we cordially abide.

Clouds along the moonlight glides
Lighting not the ground
But upon the clouds shines
So the light was muddled
Helping the patrol scuttle
Invading the tyrant's trench mound.
The tricolor in front.
The shadows behind.
Approaches the enemy line.
And if soldiers do as told,
then this tactic proves bold
for the French are outnumbered 3 to 1.
With renewed guile their enemy confront
And the end of the traverse is met.
The officers descend the parapet
Leaving behind snipers ready and set.

We know only those faces,
We have seen in history.
Yet countless strange faces are there
Who fought for the country.
We can never repudiate
Selfless sacrifices of those men,
So I am paying tribute to all those
Martyrs and soldiers through my pen.
Indulged in your duties,
Far away from your family and loving ones.
You fight for our
Dreams, hopes and liberty,
Strutting boldly amidst the raging guns.
Whether it is scorching rays of Sun
Or it is blood freezing cold,
You fight relentlessly
Standing so strong and bold.
You are the true sons of the nation.
For the sake of our lives,
Irrigating this land with your blood
Is your only passion.
Time will never obliterate the fact…
You stand for us like an adobe.
With lion like courage and firmness of temper,
You have made our tricolor
Shimmer throughout the globe.
Death can’t cease you to live
As you live even after dying.
I salute your martyrdom,
For you never got older.
Fighting to keep us free,
It is the stiffest thing
To be you- A SOLDIER......

Each brilliant midnight star in this wintry sky
reflects the innocent eyes of children that shine...
children remembering that glorious night lost to time;
will angels appear as they wait and sigh?
Isn't that the merry feeling of Christmas
that brings them to the stable where the cow
and the sheep keep Baby Jesus warm as a fire's glow?
Everyone should imagine this pretty scene with wondrous eyes!
Stroll down the busy streets of New York City or any town,
let those tricolor lights dust your fantasy with their Christmas magic,
feel the warmth as they glow like old Santa's who was a former clown...
isn't that the merry feeling of Christmas seen in his smile so sympathetic?

MY FIRST PATRIOTIC
SOLDIER
Thoughts drift towards another world
Mind starts thinking in different fold
Lets you down with no hope for
When loved ones leave alone for war
Moments spent were really happier
Day they left eyes were full of tears
Dark night waiting to sight
Joining the group in the loop
They were traveling with the troop
Fighting hard with the foes
They showed courage, brought them to toes
Land was full of blood as seen
To be martyrs, they were so keen
Victory is what for which they die
Furling the TRICOLOR in the SKY.

The Aftermath
(Dedicated to all the martyrs, victims and their families -of Mumbai bomb blast)
Voices silenced,tears have dried
Frozen hearts no longer smile
Darkness veils the winter sky
Screamings echo, but for a while
Sorrow dawns over shadowed nights
Laughter lost for eternity
Wrapped in tricolor,sleeping pride
Pain filled eyes searches thee
Gathering pieces of shattered memories
as souls depart to another domain
Time may heal the gashes made,
Who will erase the scars remained?
