They stood like rhymes
on fencepost spines
with wisdom scrawled
in shaving thymes—
a roadside gospel,
terse and sweet
that preached with
meter, grit, and heat.
Rosemary likes
a clean-shaved man,
if wooing her
is in your plan.
She’ll linger near
and take your hand
and proudly wear
your golden band.
Parsley hides
beside the plate—
the garnish mocked
by those who ate.
But lean in close—
she knows the names
of all who passed
and played their games.
Sage recalls
those roadside lines—
poetry caught
between the pines.
Sometimes sly
and sometimes wise,
a fleeting truth
before my eyes.
They’re all gone now
fenceposts bare—
but I still see
those rhymes out there.
Burma-Shave.

I will not write a poem today
I won’t – I won’t – I won’t
I’ll defy the metered merriment
Declare the thymes – all crimes
My challenge to the metaphor
An inky gauntlet on the floor
I wlll count no syllables
As I ride the “silly” bus
Nor sound the drum roll of
Repetitive alliteration
For words, like pizza slices
Are the best of poetry’s devises
And yet, it seems, a single phrase
Emerges from the dark through greys
Of lifting fog and dancing haze
Revealing fields where poets graze
I will not write a poem today
The poem will write itself…

If your feeling up to it
and don't mind taking center stage
If you feelings up to it
and wanna act like we're
Engaged
If your feeling up to it
and you put me first
I'll be the man
You need
The one you want
If you put me first
Take some time to consider
Ramble through what's
Going on
There's problems elsewhere
What you had thought has
Cone and gone
If you put me first
I can love all
..if your feeling up to it
Inspire of what's going on
Say your right
When you know you're wrong
If you're feeling up to it
Then I can say
Let me love you
Love
The foolishness away
I'll be here waiting
I want to hear you say
Ain't nobody but you
Love me through
All that's going on
Baby it's our song
If you put me first
If I am your
Number one
If you put me first.inspite
Of all that's going wrong
I'll love the night away
Baby just to hear you say
I am the one
The only one
If you put me first

Pages I open each day
Under the sun that burns the hay
Verses I read and pray
Over a bun of bread I lay
Memories written below my chest
Strokes of ink I wrest
Olives and thymes of yesteryears
My childhood grinds with tears
Cabinet I saved and sweep
Drawer I loved and keep
My mother's pictures that flash
My heart that blink and blush
Her words enter my mind
Without her hairpin that shows and bind
Her spirit lingers, not hide
Soul that triggers, not glide
A book over my head
On Mother's Day I spread
End of Spring that chide
Mothers of the world I pride
Across the waters I sail
Billions of gallons I pail
Boating on a stormy sea
Smiling with endless glee
She made me strong all along
A spirit who stayed not so long
Now I am alone
But she made me stronger than a bone
A book on my lap
Wet and soaked by waters of gap
Dripping with thoughts of sap
Bathing me in a nap
One book is good enough
To help me grow, not huff
A pound of dry book I met
A thousand pound worth when wet
Her diary...
Happy Mother's Day! :)

Priscilla was born under a lucky constellation
Without a single bit of consternation
Born under a lucky constellation
The entire town was in celebration
We were excited, filled with excited jubilation.
A lovely couple – Wilbur and Winnie Thyme.
They had patiently waited a long time
To get the ultimate gift, a baby girl.
She was adorable too with one gentle curl.
They had wealth and cherished antiques.
They did not care; she was a doll who squeaks.
They were all about giving her whatever she needed.
She was a success, in everything she succeeded.
The Thymes were pleased, proud and puffed.
Priscilla was not the kind of girl who huffed.
She was born under a loving galaxy.
Cherished by every native – wild and free.

Let sweet rains drop on your palms
Let it cuddle your skin, soften like a balm
Your bangles hum the dreamy rhymes
Let wind waft your fragrant thymes
I am far away from you, far, far away
In dream I sing with you, dance and sway
How are you dear? how have you been?
I am eager to know, truly I am keen
Dark clouds darken the smiling sky
Where the wild wings dare to fly
I am longing for sweet rains to fall
Or sunshine! even it be patchy small
May you stay blissful there, stay carefree
Chuckle and laugh in a catching spree
Hope I will see you soon, in a luminous day
Bye now my love, for you I will gently pray

we found it uncomfortable
to hear him rant.
we found it less considering to
try to understand his logic
his disposition
and even his words.
" YOU HAVE A FAMILY
I THINK YOU CAN UNDERSTAND
I DON'T LIKE YOU
AND YOUR BUSINESS IS MY BUSINESS
AND WHAT BRINGS US TOGETHER
IS THAT YOUR RESEARCH IS FOR ME: ( PAUSING TO LAUGH)
YOUR WORK SHALL BE MINE
ALL YOUR LABORS ARE IN VAIN,
SEE YOU MAY BE WEALTHY, BUT I'M THE BOSS
YOU FOLLOW MY ORDERS, AND EVERY THING WILL BE FINE,
CALL IT BULLYING: OR A MEASURE OF DISCONTENT
WHAT LACKS EMOTION OFTEN BRINGS PEOPLE TO BE LESS
CONSIDERATE, YOU WEALTHY PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND
YOU CAN' AFFORD NOT TO GIVE ME WHAT I WANT
AND YOU CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO DO WHAT I SAY
I'M THE FREAKIN BOSS HERE!"
IT TOOK EIGHT MEN IN TUXEDO'S TO GET THIS MAN OUT OF THE
BANQUET HALL.
WE WERE HAVING A GREAT TIME DANCING AND SHARING THYMES TOGETHER AND
THIS JERK CAME IN DEMANDING THE PLANS AND THE CASH FROM
MR. JEHOSHAPHAT, HE LOOKED SCARED AND COWARD DOWN TO HIM
UNTIL MY HUSBAND TOOK THE SITUATION AND BOUGHT A LEVEL OF DIGITY TO THIS CARTOONISH JERK!

to the on lookers delight
the sounds of the oboes were soothing
they were like the sun setting into night
the chefs were amazing

NEVER BLAME THE MAN
WHEN HE HAS YOUR BEST
INTEREST IN MIND
WHEN HE ACTS NICE
A TREATS YOU KIND
WHEN YOUR FRIENDS
SPEAK ILL OF HIM
TO CAUSE YOU TO
DISAGREE
SO THAT ONE DAY"GIRL"
YOU'LL OPEN YOUR EYES
AND SEE
THEY'LL ARRANGE WAYS TO
CAUSE
AND MAKE THINGS GO WRONG
FOR YOU AND HIM
HE'S THE ONE TO
BLAME
HE SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAN
BUT THAT IS A PRECURSOR
TO WHAT YOU KNOW HE THINKS
SOMETHING AINT RIGHT
AND YOU KNOW THAT AINT REAL
WHEN HE SMOOTH HER OVER
THEY'LL SEND IN
SOMEONE HIS WAY
TO BREAK-UP THIS SHAM
AND SEND THIS BUSTA ON HIS WAY
DAYS GOES BY" GIRL GUESS WHO
CALLED, CRYING AND BALLIN
ASKING SLAP-JAWED
"OLE BOY, GIRL"
WANTING TO HOOK UP AGAIN
I TOLD HIM I GOT A MAN
I CAN'T LET YOU BACK IN
THEY GOT MARRIED THROUGH
AND BEEN HAPPY EVER SINCE
THEY GOT RID OF THOSE FRIENDS
THOSE TROUBLE-MAKING TRICKS

My memory flashes back on my most horrific nightmare…
Again, I find myself in rivet of this excruciating pain
With emaciated body, I totter to my wheelchair
Holding my paintbrushes and glass paints
Dogged enough to finish the portraits of my agonizing tale.
It’s so hard to clear up my hazy mind
Like smoked glasses- a canvas which I need to dust…
As my tears seek its way to dry
My fine hair drops at every strand
While these paint brushes of mine sweeps so fine.
My mother is so old… now alone with me
Can’t sing long lullabies anymore,
Can you sing for me?
Please put me into deep slumber
To dream that this nightmare sets me free
As I fervently pray and cling tightly to Thee.
My memory riffles through my agonizing tales one at a time
Peeking through a fizzled hope, then I see the light
As all smoked glasses are with colorful paints now
My fragile and emaciated body begin to rise
Anchored by my indomitable spirit, pale skin starts to blush
And my hair grows even more robust than pinctober’s thymes.

He happened to me like an autumn
Just like the change of leaves
It was sudden
But it was raining, raining on that day
Raining with black umbrellas and hurried footsteps
With wet papers and cold classrooms
Then, just right then
I heard a shrieky little laugh
Just a glance and I was caught
Caught in a whirlpool of warm chocolate
And there, just right there
Was where I met my Peter Pan
To me
He was a bouquet of sweet herbs
Sprigs of parsley crossed by bay leaves
Topped by thymes and wrapped in sage
Fragranced by mint
And colored by lavender
He was… all the good old nature
To me
He was a puzzle book
Filled with ancient spells
And wondrous casts
Rested on the shelf of red mahogany wood
Dusted in ignorance
Waiting to be learned
To me
He was a drop of sunshine on the window pane
A slip of moonlight through the crack door
The first morning dew and evening stroll
The summer breeze and the night air
To him
I was a blank page
A passerby ring
Snow in the summer
And a midnight dawn
One day
I swore
I’d knock his guard and ask him out
Yes I swore on that one day
That had passed long ago
