I will not write a poem today

I will not write a poem today I won’t – I won’t – I won’t I’ll defy the metered merriment Declare the thymes – all crimes My challenge to the metaphor An inky gauntlet on the floor I wlll count no syllables As I ride the “silly” bus Nor sound the drum roll of Repetitive alliteration For words, like pizza slices Are the best of poetry’s devises And yet, it seems, a single phrase Emerges from the dark through greys Of lifting fog and dancing haze Revealing fields where poets graze I will not write a poem today The poem will write itself…

Your poems always make me smile, for some reason, this is brilliant. And i felt this, somedays we just let poetry writes for us, and theres no need to count syllables and find perfect meter. Just go with the flow: theres space for every shade and color and flavor of poetry in the world of words. Sending you light always

Ha, ha! Love the ending, John. By the way: It's 'I SHALL not write a poem today.' ... I shall, you will, he/she/it will. LMAO ~ Septuagenarian Grammarian

Hello John, What a clever poem. It is so true that poetry often writes itself, transcending the writer's initial intentions or resistance. Loved Reading! - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

An entertaing, humorous and clever insight into the miracle of the "making"...capping it off with an observation only a good poet understands... "The poem will write itself " as indeed many do. I admire your dedication to practice of poetry John...your poems speak it.
