Felt Like Six Hundred Twenty One
dandelions were stretched out along the roadside spent
wild lavender thistles were shriveling into brown stalks
we had no air in our car, it felt like we were in a sauna
the first few seconds were great, then it felt stifling.
how hot is it? I asked my niece. She checked her phone.
Heat advisory, heat index, heat…..here it is.

Upcoming Mild Temperatures Will Quickly Melt Snow
I looked outside the bedroom window
here at B44 Highland Manor Apartments
today March 13th, 2022 low and behold
took stock of soundless grounded sideshow.
Barenaked lady, i.e. mother earth
partially sloughed off
excess weight around her girth
her downy soft negligee.
Where once ground
enshrouded in lily white
courtesy albedo effect nature
evinced twilight
no matter the
post meridiem o'clock hour quite

Summer Temperatures
Summer temperatures are rising,
For the end of July, not surprising
Kids head for the swimming pool,
It's much too hot to be in school
Outdoor workers need hydration,
Tempers flare with mild frustration
The elderly find it hard to breathe,
Air-conditioning brings some relief
And thoughts of December's snow,
Six months and off to Florida we go!

Winter Scores a Win
Frozen brick church frozen hard steeple.
Nowhere around are any people
Winter mix is all around
Twinkling snow is on the ground.
Frozen limbs, breaking quickly.
In the yard, rather thickly.
Old frost bite Charlie has been busy.
Icicle magic makes me dizzy.
Not a coat or hat or face.
Not a person any place.
Outside is freezing, so we are all in.
Winter once again

A Spate of Cool Temperatures
How refreshing to experience
a reprieve from sultry weather
when hazy, hot,
and humid warm front
unleashes a very short sweaty tether.
Man hat tin dar overcast skies
hint potential rain on the way
perchance avast dastardly

Temperatures
A rising sun cast pastel shades
Icy lavender fools
In the throes of summertime's heat
It is hard to keep cool
All seems quiet, just a Mockingbird's
Varied soft melodies
As the orange ball of a sun
Rest with ease 'pon pine trees
A lovely day to enjoy the peace
A restful quiet morn
Even the roosters are silent
Time for good thoughts to
