Smitten by Kitten Disinterest

never loved cat ways
their tail-flicking arrogance
their unasked-for gaze
my family longed for one —
I yielded, keeping distance

stray kitten arrived
they all fawned gushed over it

cat lies on her back,
lounging on the window seat...
a thin pane of glass
is all that separates her
from chaos and sturm und drang

Border

my sentinel cat
lies in watch at the window...
a vagrant, strange pet
approaches from the outside...
encounter at the border

ME - OW

butterflies hover
because they can't crawl ~ but one
was trying to crawl
but it did not let it crawl
not let a butterfly crawl

what monstrosity
to let a fragile

Tchotchke

Early morning thud...
the bedroom door opens wide...
ginger cat scampers
frightened by the sudden sound 
of an overturned tchotchke

Roaming Tabletop

roaming tabletop 
persian’s taste for dainty things
the french-pressed coffee
soft black fur prowling tea cups
be careful kitty, it’s hot

Boredom Suffering

boredom suffering
with drugs, wine, masked-up walking
the dog and the cat
they were happy without masks
content with flesh-friends at home

Laughter Recall

Playing in sunshine
is a twirling girl and cat
Meows and laughter
Romping away sweet moments
until the day is drowsing

In tall green grasses
pretty kitty's soon sleeping
in shadows of

Merlin the Magic Cat

When Merlin meows, 
It pulls the piano strings, 
A symphony plays,
There is a sequential flow,
A door opens to this world.

A Chase To the Sea

Running with the breeze
Gray cat and blue butterflies
Orange sunset skies
Zest meets curiosity
just to hear the ocean roar

Evening melodies
drift far on the floral air
as time slips

Just Superstition

Just superstition?
Feisty black cat bearing claws 
the number thirteen  
tattooed upon its wild smile,
witches it’s your lucky day.

The Cat In My Lap

Some droplets of ash
in a white cottony fluffs
Total eye candy!
Sweet like sugar and honey
Sporadically cloudy.
