Beneath the river, creatures swim
Hope's a sliver, their fate is grim
Their fate is grim, hope's a sliver
Creatures swim beneath the river
An eagle's prey in talons so sharp
Predators play upon the scarp
Upon the scarp, predators play
In talons so sharp an eagle's prey
Soaring high above the vast plains
In the sky, where the eagle reigns
Where the eagle reigns in the sky
Above the vast plains soaring high
Their sharp eyes scan for their next meal
They set their plan with zest and zeal
With zest and zeal, they set their plan
For their next meal, their sharp eyes scan

I want to cling
To you
The way vultures do
Circling in
On every movement
Until the last exhale in winter’s air
Replacing bed sheets
With blankets of
Frosted covered grass
Opening up to me
Slowly
Like a flower at the end of March
Almost as if
The exposure
Tickled your rib cage
Tell me
About the things
Your eyes have held on to
As the canvas
Of light blue
Admixes to obsidian
Over the
Taut inexpressive
Coat your skeleton wears
I want to cling
To you
The way black widows do
Circling in
On every movement
Until the last tug against a web
Replacing bed sheets
With blankets
That feel like silk
Becoming closed off to me
Slowly
Like daisies when the sun goes down
I want to be
Indented
In your mind
Like a child
After
Their first bee sting
Cautious of my presence
But still wish
You could touch my face

With death gripping talons he controls foot and hand,
Unable to cry out due to fear as he had planned,
Fear of vanishing under this bed,
So young to feel such dread,
This haunting nightmare shall always remain,
To meander as a retention in my brain.

Here comes the talon bird, sea eagle to you.
His grizzly bear claws will do much damage too.
A grip strong enough to break a human’s arm.
I was stunned to find this talon bird no my farm.
Stay away from the window, hide in the closet if you can.
With those talons he could probably carry away a small man.
If he knocks on the door, pretend that no one is home.
Today’s entertainment for me has been writing this poem.

Fair-minded whale playground, compass dismisses
Ceylon sapphire zero horizon echo orchestral chamber
Forge rolling bow voyages of uncharted distance
Cut water instant recovery, oily onyx giants' undulations
Gleefully refuse gravity's hard ground insistence
Halloween door creak elaborate speak, torso of paisley
Gyrations ridicule keel knife edge flow resistance
Harried sails flap before collapse with human impatience
Dugongs admonish monolithic ships gritty missions
Adventure crave creatures flank vessels for playful races
Delight in the chase, never capture small victims
Allure fluid, serene serenades resonate clarinet cadence

Talons.
A Pidgeon panicked!
It flew flapping in its thunder;
In a motion rolling beneath
swaying leaves.
Floating in its light
eyes wide,sunlit,shattered
In its thunder.
Morning appears through
a misted velvet night !
A solitary coo, no thunder
or wings.

Unlike the first Revolution…
this time we have to take America
back from within
Like drug and alcohol addiction
we need detox
and rehabilitation
The traitors and despoilers left
to wither and die
Too many have sacrificed
for the freedoms we take for granted
to abdicate our responsibility
to the lunatic fringe

Haibun: Man and the Bird
Something is opaque in the sky; he cannot read it. There has been some throbbing in the heart for quite some time but he is mentally uncertain about the emotion behind it. He is thoughtful between any action or inaction.
eagle’s direction is fixed
wings closed, it dives into the lake-
a fish dazzles in its talons

Original perception
That wave of thought
Just breaking into breath
Eyes awake
The formative tissue merges
Seeking destiny with each pounding rivet
The sensory system develops
Highly charged with Nabisco appetites
As valves open and close filtering
Shimmering cultural ennui
World weariness revolts
Motors charged innervated
With bold forward missions
Spiritual prowess
Masked in the empire of symbolic
Dominance
To give up the cultural mandate
Reheat the branding mechanism
Of limited identities clinking in chain mail
And release the contracted talons as they are
Ready to unfold, break loose

yes
i remember how we used to fly
i recall the crisp dreams that gave paper cuts
that were sweet on the skin
the times when we sat for hours at the fire
allowing the mixture of our thoughts to waft through the smoke
the dragon was the morning clouds
with talons that dragged the cirrus into rows
brilliant deep orange
the trials and tribulations
were that of the moment only
as the future was too remote
and the past too irresolute
we could sing like an aria without the slightest of provocation
stepping into realms we knew nothing about
with the zeal of a zealot absorbed by a newly created religion
a fresh fetal beginning with the body of a near adult
the chrysallis shifting bones into new formations
we laughed and laughed
because in all of those transfixing moments
we knew we were right
