In a world of haste and make believe
where time is a most valuable commodity,
do we really want to miss
chasing rainbows and cuddling kittens,
taking the scenic route and
smelling the roses along our way?
Sometimes a detour is the best shortcut.

It seems that for our journey through life a road has been paved.
That some say we must travel for our souls to be saved.
Well that might be the path for the average man.
But It's not for me, you see I have my own plan.
I will build my own road and probably pave it with doubt.
But it will take me where I need to go, this much I have figured out.
I think our time on this earth Is just a short stint.
Filled with too many judgments and rules made to be bent.
Though the decisions I make are not always the best.
And usually going against the flow of the rest.
I have to say I like the dark corners, being on the edge of the cliff.
I never want to look back on my life and wonder what did I miss?
So if ever you can't find me, I'm doing fine there's no doubt.
Those who truly know me well, know I'm taking the scenic route.
I know I'm going to hell
for eating this forbidden fruit
but before I say my farewell
let me leave taking the scenic route
I want to see the ashy trees
and the hell birds flying by
the crimson lava filled seas
with the stench of death's tide
I got to death's black doors
as a man of Haiti let me in
the mighty Cerberus roared
while I was burned for every sin
And here I stand flaming hot
in a place with no love
my soul lay here to rot
with a demon named Beelzebub
