Swoop
With steel wings
merging places
Swooping
stealing phases
licking faith
creating darkness
where the wise and foolish
go to sleep
Shaping fate
Crushing hopes
of the fickle minded.

The seagulls swoop, the pigeons strut,
The sparrows flutter in the trees.
All creatures move around me, but
I sit and watch and rest my knees.
My second outing’s just for air,
A change of scene to pass the time
And often, by the river’s where
I sit and write my daily rhyme.
I’ve often ached for outside space –
A balcony or terrace so
I’d have the perfect private place
Where, maskless, I could always go.
But I don’t mind my little hike,
A block or two to snag a bench
And, with a view I really like,
My thirst for nature I can quench.
The morning’s time for exercise –
A quick-paced walk, my standard loop,
But afternoons I watch the skies
As clouds float by and seagulls swoop.

with one
fell swoop
of the wand
you were gone
vanished without
a trace
disappeared into
thin air
dissolved into nothingness
where did you go
no one knows
will you ever reappear
this is unclear
what is clear is
that if you ever do
happen to decided to
reappear i will be here
waiting for you forever more
with open arms

Your words cut- like a woodcutters axe
chopping me down,
blood spills onto the pine strewn floor.
Exhaling words. Spoken without thought,
or love, trapped in an unbreakable bubble
that floats around my head.
Purple memories emanate from the centre,
rippling into infinity, becoming distant…
lost to the edge of life.
I thought love would save me, but
it too floats away on a starlit stream.

Angel SwoopAngel Swoop
Watch the night as darkness unfold
As the angel swoop over my doubts
A glorious hope beacons on my timid spirit
As the moonlit glitters
As the hue in its hilarious state stooped
As sex and sense smile all through the ride
Trees crying
Curve snapping
Irony of iron stood in her sanctuary
The blistering blues cushioning the couch
As I push
Pushing her curve with my poetic pen
Her hyperbolic kiss hypnotize
The lantern mellow dim
My heart melts in the middle of the music
As breasts sunk into my lyrics
A harvest of echoes shook the roof
Neighbors plagiarizing through the window
Tears cascading as a Potaro river
As I watch,
As I watch,
Had being dreaming all this while….

Swoop the Pterodactyl
Copyright Corinne Curcio July 29, 2008
I had a lot of Beanie Babies
When they were in style
Those little dust collectors
Always made me smile
But there’s a very special one
With whom I’ll never part
Reminding me of when I was young
And dreams sang in my heart
Swoop the Pterodactyl
Watches over me
From atop his aerie
He’s carefree
I thought I’d search for fossils
Travel to distant lands
Excavating dinosaurs
Is what I’d always planned
But life had other ideas
Or maybe it was me
Why try to reach beyond my grasp
For what can never be?
Swoop the Pterodactyl
Watches over me
From atop his aerie
He’s carefree
The grownup is in charge now
But sometimes the child escapes
I sit astride his back
Flying over Cretaceous landscapes
And we glide…. we glide
When I see him on my shelf
I feel a little ache
Perhaps burying my dreams
Was a very big mistake
Can I dig them up again?
A paleontologist at last?
But do I really want to
Start sifting through the past?
Swoop the Pterodactyl
Watches over me
From atop his aerie
He’s carefree
And we glide, we glide....
This is actually a song
