The Beatles, song stylists
so far ahead of their time
Their music, to harmony
what poetry is to rhyme

Everybody and their cousin wants their haircut today.
The sign is in the window as usual – stylist needed.
Great opportunity. Apply within.
It should say ten stylists needed.
Many empty stations.
Not sure what is happening here.
The usual cutters are not around anymore.
The young ones are beeping and blinking on cell phones.
Ignoring the old lady customers who are trying to shout to each other
From under old fashion beehive dryers.
The beeping and blinking
And ignoring of customers
Is driving me nuts.
If I did not look like
an unkempt, Cro-magnon man today
I would be gone.
Without the wait.
Or the bad haircut
From a stylist who
is looking at her phone the whole time she is slashing my mess.

People are neither good nor bad.
We are both; to different degrees,
At different times, with different people.
Some feel harder than others.
If they are wise they become artists,
Musicians, poets, potters, weavers, decorators, hair stylists.
They cannot help it.
Their feelings have to ooze out somewhere in a creative way.

The place where they lived was a storybook palace,
Friends came and went each day.
They dinned with excellence, a handsome chef guided,
The friendly waitresses hosted the breakfast abd dinners.
There was a lovely cafe with delicious foods,
Where you could meet with friends.
A boutique where you could buy exquisite and fashionable clothes,
Jewellry and presents where you could stay at home for your purchases.
A very fashionable salon with very kind and helpful stylists,
They create miracles where you are transformed into someone beautiful.
Blessed to have friends and relatives come to visit,
We are truly blessed to live and reside here.
This is a place of friendship where the staff and neighbors
Make you feel at home and I am thankful.

An anomaly in furnishings, I was;
so avant-garde, I triggered smiles and buzz.
Not like baroque, ornate styles of the past,
my bona fide remake was made to last.
A cacophony of patterns- deja vu,
brought slow ennui; now time for something new.
With full carte blanche, my sharper look emerged.
Sparked by elan, my modern era surged.
Some called my offbeat stylists dilettante-
but, retro styles are still on lists of wants.

The stylist grabbed her brat and ran out to her jeep
She had 2 energy drinks because she had no sleep
She dropped off brat in back and quickly shut the door
She came out and there was Miss Big one on the floor
Miss Big one got her name because she was so tall
Too many happy pills was what caused her to fall
She got up soon and said what you think about that
She sat down in her seat and took off her big hat
Stylist put big curlers all in big ones hair
She put on a mud pack, Miss Big one didn't care
In ran brat from outback yelling, "I started a fire!"
Smoke rolled under the door he was a little live wire!
Big one staggered up and hit her head on the door
Blood trickled down through the mud, it was some ghastly gore
Stylists' shop burned clear down now she works selling beer
Big one's now in "rehab" and brat just disappeared!

Optical illusions
Seeing is believing at least that's what they say
Sometimes though, what our eyes see leads us astray
World banks and their buildings are so, impressive to the sight
Promising financial freedom, while profits, like birds take flight
Political leaders, world rulers, seem so confident giving their speech
Fulfilling their vainglorious promises however, is often out of reach.
Physical beauty of men and women is often just simply superficial
When cosmetic surgery alters images, they end up looking artificial
Actors and singers, superstars, have their stylists and make up on
All are not as they appear, broken idols ever seeking a glory long gone
Religious leaders with their pomp, showing off illustrious vestments
Optical illusions promising salvation while minding their investments
This world is full of hypocrisy promising things but they are only lies
Optical illusions at their best, but it's time to open our eyes.

The World of the One Percent
By Elton Camp
The super rich is who these folks are
More wealthy than old Croesus by far
They reside in the most fabulous estate
Privacy protected by a guarded gate
A mansion with elevators & indoor pool
Where as kings and queens they rule
Sparkling clean and always kept that way
By staff: butler, maids, cooks and the valet
“The master is quite indisposed,” they say
To any who may attempt to visit that day
Breakfast in bed they can anytime enjoy
Where they is nothing around to annoy
Even doctors willingly pay them a house call
As do stylists, masseurs, barbers—one and all
Personal shoppers go out to buy their clothes
Unless a tailor comes—it’s sure one of those
For it is only poor folks, down on their luck
Who have go and shop at Sears & Roebuck
Since only the little people pay income tax
In carrying their fair load they are found lax
Certainly, no self indulgences do they spare
For the uncouth masses they have little care
Unless James brings around the limousine
It’s in a mere $200,000 car they are seen
A world of incredible privilege is theirs
Where they relax without having any cares
