Far Side of The Moon

Winter and Summer begin on a solstice,
That marks the shortest and longest days of the year;
Spring and Fall arrive with the equinox.
When the sun is closest to the equator,
And day and night are of equal hours.

Daily, the earth spins on its 23.5 degree tilted axis,
Called its “obliquity,” and orbits the sun once a year.
And this orbital plane gives rise to changing positions;
Which shepherd in opposite seasons,
In the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

The moon orbits the earth every month
(Synchronized with its rotational spin on its axis)
And spins at the same speed it orbits the earth,
And explains why the near side of the moon is always in view,
As seen from earth, and the far side remains a mystery.
                                  ***

Notes:
In October 1959, the USSR spacecraft, Luna 3, transmitted back to earth the first images of the far side of the moon (the side unseen from earth). The Chinese rover Yutu-2 landed on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019, and found the Lunar soil to be stickier than on the near side facing the earth.

Premium MemberThe Blue Tongue

They say its impossible to have both a pleasant and foul
thought simultaneously that may or may not be true..
but It seems that the foul ones are much stickier
adhering to the soft underbelly of the mind
a toxic build up of blue times
engulfing all light eventually.
Pleasant thoughts are hummingbird like
flitting from synapse to synapse
disappearing into the seam of the unknown
coming back the next time with a
tinge of blue on the tongue

You have to grapple
To eat a Toffee Apple
They are a Toffee treat
And even stickier to eat
Unless you are a jackal

The Narcisstic Psychopath

THE NARCISSTIC PSYCHOPATH
A camouflaged poisonous spider in wait,
a web, coloured and decorated as gaslight bait,
enticing any empaths into a web of torturous fate,
becoming, darker, thicker and stickier,
the more, of the web you explore.

Feeling more blind, for an escape to find,
emotions and mind,
trapped, tangled that can't unwind,
with the demonic spider, spinnin n spinnin,
smilin in belief it's winnin.

A web history of victims and prey,
displaying stains of pain,
from their attempts of escape,
of mental emotional rape,
wearing the psychopathic spider cape.

Self belief without fear,
to burn the web,
for an escape to appear,
then pray to never stray,
if an evil psychotic narcissist comes your way

Particular Reasons

Particular Reasons

Politicians skipped over reasons which were particular;
They like squirming around when things are stickier,
And by sheer coincidence,
Absolutely made no sense;
Harder problems may be found when being pickier.

James Horn Political Poem Series

Marjory, How do you like my politician poems.
More are in the making. Am trying to become
a modern day Will Rogers. I am limited to ten
poems a day on Poetry Soup and have exceeded
limit again.

It's You

I love you more then him
My like for him is different
not stickier then our pin
ill make you my mission
he makes me miss you less
and when your not here
when your gone I'm a mess
I feel guilty for enjoying him
but he makes me feel so sane
I know you feel your losing me
I'm causing you great pain
but i'll wait on you forever
through the sunshine and the rain

Loves Fatal Attraction

What she had was a fatal attraction
For all men, there was no compassion.

She had been hurt so many times before
That she wanted to settle the score.

She had gotten to be known as the black widow spider
There was no more love left inside her.

So many men had fallen prey
And in her web they would lay.

The more they fought the stickier it would get
She hadn’t had her consumption yet.

So many victims she had consumed
And their love had ended too soon.

Although she had all the assets a man would desire
Her love was a funeral fire.

So men ! Be careful whom you hurt
The widow spider is on the alert.

Premium MemberOur Back Porch

On the side of the house, in the shade,
off from the back of the kitchen.
Our small porch was tailor made,
for making our play day decisions.

Skin-the-cat on the black pipe railing,
eating fresh picked pears to our fill.
Homemade pies set out for cooling,
showing off our stair jumping skills.

Not very big, but with plenty of space,
to sit on the steps and talk.
With sticky fingers and stickier face,
from eating homemade icicle pops.

Gingerbread dough set to chill in Winter,
Muddy shoes left there to dry.
All the neighbor kids came there to enter,
My sitting there, when our cat ran away, to cry.

That little porch was an important part,
of our home and our childhood.
Why I hold it so dear in my heart,
took years of growing before I understood.
