flowers color

The colors of flowers

You see, it was about the flowers, a few people
know that the colors of flowers can be mind
altering like dark blue can bring on nostalgia
or a hankering for the good old days, which you
when not seduced by red roses, can instantly
recognize it as a traffic stop, wait for the amber
light to soberly drive on
The flowers I think of have long, sturdy stems
that has dew drops on it, since it is morning
A mark mouse sits on the pistil of a lilac flower
Smiles and waves to the audience, so perfect
a scene like a little girl's dream

Premium MemberWe Are Enough

We are enough if we stop trying to be
              something we are not
We are enough if we accept ourselves
                 just as we are
We are enough if we realize comparing
                  our selves to others,
will only bring tears and frustration!
We are enough if we walk soberly towards
                    both heaven and earth !
We are enough if we live our life truly
                   just as we are
We are enough if we accept that not all we want
             will come our way
We are enough if we are grateful for what
                we do have today
We are enough if we say we are,
yes, we are more than enough !!!

"In memory of Eliza and Emily"
Twelve Years a Slave, Eliza Berry's life marked by cruelty, a tragedy of slavery.

She rose to lower heights as she plucked the cotton with
                               her bare hands
Stooped over she pulled the cotton from the bolls, fine cotton
                               that it was !
Twelve years of slave-hood, her daughter taken for her beauty
                                  was separated from her youth...
Haggard, hollow-eyed and filled with sorrow she worked soberly
for she would not be sold, she was not for sale !
Eliza wept tears of grief but, there was nothing she could do,
her daughter had been taken away from her.
Come back—don’t leave me—come back, mama, was her last cry
until distance intervened and then all was finally wholly lost.

Foot Note: Eliza never saw or heard of Emily. In the cotton field, always and everywhere she was talking to her. Only when absorbed in that illusion or asleep, did she ever have a moment’s comfort, afterwards.

Stranger in the Attic

Silently, stealthily, slowly
He strolled with great care
So as to avoid the floorboard
That would squeak
And seal his fate

Smiling, sweating, successful
He slid past the enemy
That could terminate
The solace he sought
And savored

Sulking, seething, sitting
He swallowed day old soup
And dreamt of caviar
That could soothe his craving
And his sanity

Softly, safely, soberly
He slipped into serenity
Without a struggle
Into the shelter of eternity
And secrets

The Evening Walk

The summer breeze lapped at my hair
Firmly yet gently lifting each strand
The warm caress of the sun
Brought happiness to my weeping skin
My lips parted as laughter
Freely trickled down my chin
My eyes lit a beaming path for my feet
As I began my evening walk

Abruptly I tripped and fell
Soberly I looked around
For the object of my humility
And found myself gazing into my own eyes
I had tripped and fallen over myself
Fighting to regain a composure
That proved to be elusive
I stood and faced myself
As I continued my evening walk

Mattress Roses

Mattress and roses

A great day in Cascais, sunlit and soberly warm.
We have bought a rose-coloured mattrass
easy to install, the old one was heavily loaded by
memories of a time of a healthy life.

I was thinking of getting a canary bird let it fly
inside, let out wild birds will kill the canary

Resolved angry dispute sealed with love
objectified as a burrow where children do not enter.
Someone homeless can sleep on it before it rains.
Ultimately, the old mattress will end up in a landfill.

Premium MemberWhat You Left Behind

Golden smiles mulched in memory, sweet cuvee
sipping it soberly I adhere to the fading of day
When night arrives to shut the curtains in solid
I lose all transparency and my thoughts un-lid
Immersed in the bittersweet moments we once shared,
I find comfort in the knowledge that we were well paired

Sweet Juice and Young Bones

Because today my hands
started to unravel the wires
of the telephone pole, the ones
in the middle of the street
connecting terraced homes together.
Familiar facades showing familiar window,
showing outgoing smiles and orange evening lights,
yet when our night, the room blues in my face,
I play all the records of dead people
while I wonder where my older nights have gone,
while your supernatural vision eyes are eyeing me
soberly, and my thoughts hit my head, cringe together
 like a family of birds
suddenly leaving me more peaceful than seasons,
than power, or your searching glances, leaving me
more private and unafraid
because today I am
from the sea and will laugh soon enough
over your beige wallpaper and white bedroom,
the sky calls and my young eyes
start being the weapons I need because of today.

Premium MemberBlacken the Charcoal

Draw the embers into the wood
Stroke it like it's a three-legged stool
Blacken the charcoal of a dying fire
Fasten it to a sun swelling brighter
The object is to lick the smoking flame
Soberly thoughtful to call out His name

Should a flash shine brilliantly
With a radiant outburst of joy hotly
All about warming the frigid darkness
The ocean in which stars are as jellyfish
Will appear to the seers as Lumiere
Clearly my dear it's an Austral Hell

Toss another log into the house of Hades
Balance it on your heaven party gate
Strum the drum to conjure up the worship
The song that worms the hawthorn brush
Into its strip tease yank along

Moon moss to heavy metal music loudly
Pound the ditty along to His shouting
The anthem of a wench's wrenching
The diddly of concerted celestial voicings
Heard charring with a fire from within
The product of an incandescent spell

See that which is bright always rises twice
Conditions darken before they go black
Then Hell behaves with new eyes
And the story is told in pantomime
About a joy and how it lingered a lifetime

Premium MemberThe Poet's Hands Are Tied

Her story is one that needs to be told. Born in a poor family she was sent to work at a very young age. "Have you got any experience? asked Madame Jeanne she nodded then lied through her teeth," yes, of course, Qui " fifteen years of age and smart as a whip. She won 1st prize for an essay she wrote in school. Hiding her tears from her mom and dad, she soberly dropped out of school.
the poet's hands were tied
but her mind was not
she was determined
Late at night after a shower, lint free and bone tired she'd start working
on her novel. Here in this magical place of wander she was never scoffed nor told to put away her silly dreams.
an entity of hope
is a thing that floats
like a paper boat
One day she braved it and sent in her manuscript. The Editor knowing a
good thing when she saw it, gave Gloria her first chance. When she
received her very first check, she cried tears of joy.
all of this
because she believed ,
and never gave up

Cows On a Roof

Walking halfway up a paths incline
I look back at my bungalow
there is a cow on my roof
(an optical illusion)
for the roof is overlooked
by a green hill,
and on that green hill
black and white cows graze.

The wind-swept Bermuda shorts
on the back washing-line
are also trying to jump onto the roof,
but being still hungover from the night before
they will never make it.
The black and white cows
consider the flapping shorts soberly.

Premium MemberWe All Need Unity

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ICPUj1AOzM&t=88s

Happiness arrives to those with open doors and wishes
perhaps we finally grasped the truth about change and crisis
We are learning everything we do reflects upon ourselves
we, glass unicorns of earth's menagerie don't belong on shelves
Happiness is ours if we understand, truth is never owed,
its found only in contented moments and pivotal emotions
It is drawn unto us through gratefulness and devotion ;
Lately life has changed us, & we have changed our lives accordingly
we have organized ourselves forming beautiful links of fraternity
Our hearts & souls have learned the meaning of personal responsibility
let us pray that when a cure is found, we'll all be more aware ;
Happiness is a butterfly that lives in the freedom of its natural habitat
lets be like them, and give everyone room for a safe landing.
Together we can be conscientious without being over ambitious,
so lets keep generosity at the forefront, and advocate for the good.
Just a little humanity goes a long way . Live more soberly,
because after what we've been through, we all need Unity & Love.
